You have to trust your vet. You said the diarrhea stopped.  i don't know if it is because of the pills and in a few days the diarrhea will be back or the food he recommended is working.  If the diarrhea comes back, then go back and read the posts and the links attached. Show them to your vet. Ask his advice. If the dog does well on that food, then leave all well enough alone.  But I have a sneaking suspicion that your dog may have digestive issues that will need to be addressed. I still think a shot of B-12 would be a good thing in either case.

The food your vet prescribed looks like it is designed for gastro intestinal and malabsorption disorders.  It has a novel protein and carbohydrate and is hypoallergenic. Because it is a vet prescription formula I would imagine the carbohydrate is hydrolyzed, that means that the carbohydrates have been broken down by a process that reduces it down to an easliy digestible unrecognizable protein or carb source, thus your dog can digest and garner the nutrients from the food easily.and allergies are alleviated.  Believe it or not, there is a method to this madness they call Vet prescription diets.  Trust your vet, he was wise to prescribe this diet. After the diarrhea is gone, then you can move on to chapter two, weight gain.
This can be accomplished by buying the canned Eukanuba formula of the same diet and adding it into the moistened kibble.
I am praying for you that this is all that will be needed for your dog to turnaround.

TS        Endocrinology

            TLI (Canine) - 7.9 ug/L - 6.0-35.0
            Folate - 6.7 ug/L - Low - 6.2-13.5
            Cobalamin - 457 ng/L - >= 275.0

TLI within normal limits rules out exocrine pancreatic
            insufficiency.

Folate and cobalim (B12) are preferentially absorbed in
different parts of the intestine. Therefore, reduced serum
concentrations of folate and/or cobalamin may be indicative
of disease of the proximinal and/or distal small intestine
respectively, either as a result of mucosal damage or
hereditary malabsorption (cobalamin). These serum levels
should be assayed after a 12-hour fast to reduce the
influence of diet on the results.

Increased folate and/or decreased cobalamin can be
indicative of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (STBO,
or antibiotic responsive enteropathy) or can be associated
            with EPT.

Hello Khaled, this is so shocking for your beautiful German Shepherd....when I picked up my GSD from quarantine, he had lost 6 kg from when he left Germany, He was in excellent condition prior to leaving Germany and this is the truth, he was in 2012 seiger show, and looked magnificent....his weight in Germany was over 35 kg.

When I bring him home, he was very very fussy with food, he also had green foetus, his weight when we collected from quarantine was 31.2 kg -- he looked shocking....

I took him to the vet and he gave him very strong antiobiotics which lasted 10 days the green foetus stopped.., and i changed his diet to a natural dry food product (Black Hawk ) which is manufactured in Australia and used by many German Shepherd Breeders in our Country - this is not an advertisement I am just telling you what I use, mixed with water to soften my vet also told me to add bakers yeast 2 teaspoons mixed in dry food and water meal, my vet also told me to give him alfalfa tablets and Muscle tone tablets which I bought from health shop I give him these one tablet of each after morning and night feed (twice per day), and also feed him cooked chicken. The cooked chicken I give him at lunch instead of the dry food mix just as a change, maybe 4 time a week. He loves the cooked chicken meat - no bones I just boil the chicken until cooked. These are not large meals, but medium about 3 cups dry food covered in water, add bakers yeast only once per day....

His weight today is 37-38 kg, this has taken me 7 months to get him where he is today, I treat only once per month with Revolution.
He is on this diet today, his coat is excellent and his overall health is excellent.

Maybe this might help, I hope for you it does, and your german shepherd....I think of you both and pray he will come good....

He had 3 meals per day,

He loves cheese as a treat, and sometimes raw meat (lamb flaps).

When I eat my breakfast, I have porridge (oats), and he likes this also ----this is good fibre....but this is more a treat, sometime he likes sometime he doesn't up to him on the day....

Start by giving your dog B-12 capsules. I think this may be a digestion issue so the food you should be feeding should be grain free. Or try the Royal Canin ( i know we are supposed to boycott it) gastro intestinal high energy both kibble and canned. Go to the health food store and get some digestive enzymes or go to Mercola.com under the pets section and order their dog digestive enzymes and try them mixed in the food. Then find a good probiotic and give this at night 2 hours after any antibiotics. Soak the kibble first so it is mushy then add a bit of the canned then add the enzymes then mix up and wait for a bit then feed. This is my best advice to help your dog gain some weight. In the meantime, no treats or table scraps until you can see if the enzymes are working.
you could ask your vet to give weekly B-12 shots as well, vitamin b-12 is critical for proper digestion. It seems dogs with either allergies or digestion issues are low on the b-12, perhaps because they have no fat stores on their body.
I give Maya her probiotic at night, in a tablespoon of coconut oil.
