So because Jim Engel watched the decline of  the Bouvier as a working breed. He can't express his concern that he sees the same thing happening to the GSD?
I have two Dobermanns and a GSD. Do I have the right to be concerned about what happens to the GSD  according to you?

Not quite sure of the meaning of the question, but if I need credentials,
proof of personal commitment to the, GSD, perhaps this will do:

the times they are a changin'..............the GSD will be saved and its true legacy of a working dog we will never let die.............never.Thumbs Up

Where did I say he didn't have a right to be concerned about, or even just have an opinion regarding, the GSD?  I simply asked a question. If anything, the fact that 'his' breed is neither a showline OR a working line GSD serves to place him in a more neutral place position for the point of the subject he's giving discourse upon--he's not in a position to gain or lose anything by decisions made by USCA, GSDCA, WDA or the SV.

hexe he is not worried azbout what he can or cant gain he is worried about the state of the GSD...............he is worried about the breed, the breed not himself...

"he is worried about the state of the GSD..."

You and he need to get over your suck-fest.  You have absolutely zero knowledge about the, "state of the GSD," and Jim is right behind you.  Is Jim a K9 police handler?  If not, WTF business does he have commenting, much less writing about, the role of a police dog and whether or not any particular dog is well suited for the role?

He wrote a book?  Based on what?  Get over it...yes, there are plenty of bad GSD's being bred but there are also plenty of very good ones who are growing up and being trained and working beside their handlers at real jobs every day.  They are out there, in the field doing their jobs, not just reading about it on the internet like you and Jim.

Get over yourselves and STFU...the state of the breed is just fine if you know where to get a dog and what you are looking for.  You don't...and it's a good thing because you couldn't handle the dog anyway.

Max von Sephantaiz was never a police officer or handler, probably never titled a dog.

why do u feel so defensive keith................we are both looking at what is good for the breed.

how do you explain the malinois taking over as top dog in police and military work.

there was a time GSD were the eyes of the blind until other breeds took over................

a good working GSD should be the rule not an exception.

`nuff said!

von Stephenitz was a educated Calvary officer in the German Army. He might never had titled a dog but he lead the breed through its infancy into world attention. His insight into equine breeding practices was the driving force to make the greatest breed and breed club ever. Legend period. I would like to add to my earlier post that legends are also made in the real world by K9 officers, SAR, and military dogs. Any keyboard legend and muscle bound keyboard maniacs must be balanced by people who get out there and work. Should we worship the person who hears you cough and says '' you might have cancer'' or the doctor and research team curing the big "C"? I would like to see one who cares resolve the problem from inside of the game, with ''skin'' in the game. Standing outside and screaming at the top of your lungs does nothing. Be part of a solution, or you are part of the problem.

good point............but mr. engel has been in the game if you look at his resume.............but it seems its not enough for some people.

as for me.......well i am an observer from the outside for the moment..........hoping that changes eventually.........nonetheless i do like sharing my opinion.Thumbs Up
