I will see if we can take a good photo over the weekend.

Would LOVE to see pics of both girls!!! Feel free to PM me if you prefer....
Von- I am going to my first UKC match with her this weekend for practice as she has to be 6 months to show!! She is my first "show dog" so I am very stressed!! It didn't help with everyone at breed handling class last night saying she was too small. My girl is VERY athletic, agile, and quick as a cat as well. Maybe it's her size like you said! hehehe
I have no idea how she will do in UKC. I toyed with showing her in the german style shows but she doesn't really look like the german type of dog so not sure how she would do there either. Plus, I have no idea how to teach her to gait in front of me by myself. *sigh*
Dogs- would also love to see your specialty girl! My pup is pretty correct but does not move well enough for the AKC ring....
Anyone, feel free to guess her bloodlines- just for fun!!
Here she is at 4 months but I don't need a critique as I know she is not a true showdog and I am just learning how to stack. Plus, I need to keep my confidence up!!

Several sources I read state that 1.7% calcium is max for pups.
There is also the difference between as-fed vs dry basis. 1.55% as-fed is about the same as 1.7% dry basis
Personally I want to stay at or below 1.2%.
If you add some calcium free fat, like chicken skin, in essence the total calcium will be less than stated in the bag.

The difficulty is more to get rid of enough calcium to meet standard in the food.
High protein general has the higher chance of high calcium, since meat often is attached to bones.

Listen don't get all stressed about the show. If you get in a jam, I bet the judge will help you. When I first started I told them I was new at this so give me a break!!!!! Do you know the judges you are showing under? It's so laid back. And Kudos to you for taking her into puppy classes to get her used to everything cause win or lose their are no points to worry with. I think you'll do fine. Wish I was there to be your cheering section--yep I'm a section all by myself. LOL. I love to see new people come in. Take a deep breath, be courteous, pretend you are at home gaiting in the back yard. I don't know if you have trained with bait but on the end of the judges table is a sign that says bait or no bait. If you use it and throw it, make sure you pick it up afterwards.
Now since I've not seen her move I can't say one way or another about AKC. But I can tell you this, a black dog is hard to finish in AKC. You'll spend twice as long and twice as much money. And yes it is all political. AKC and UKC. But I saw a young boy back in July at the big all breed cluster in OK City--he was maybe 12 or so--beat out pro handlers in his class. He went up for breed and yes he lost to a handler but the hjandler had a much better dog then he did.
OK here is a pic of my girl--you see I like em dark too. LOL. I know everybody is tired of looking at her but just for you I'll put it up. LOL.

Thanks so much for your message and kind comment on my puppy!! You made me feel so much better!!!! I am nervous about this weekend but this is just for experience to get her use to everything. Her real show will be in November when she is 6 months old. Yeah, I am going alone too and will be my own cheering section. I figured I would be more of a wreck with my family there distratcing me!! hahaha
Your girl is very striking! Not sure I have ever seen that color before!!
Thanks for your suggestions as I really, really appreciate them...big time!!

Ok..here is the kicker on my girl's bloodlines...she's like 98% DDR/East German bred with a dash of west and czech! Weird, huh! She didn't come out looking like she was suppsoed too (I read they are supposed to be big and blocky)!! Oh, well!!
Thanks again for such a positive post!!!!!!

Despite liking the food, it really is good to keep low calcium in her diet..not only could it cause OCD (which is rare, but with high protein/high calcium foods being distributed, may start to pop up more) but could cause joint issues later on down the road. Just a forewarning.

Yeah just have fun. It's your first time--it's her first time--and there are no points involved. Glad I made you feel better. I was all freaked out my first time too and it was nice to have my friend there.
OK I've got to get to bed if I want to get up in the morning cause I have a very very busy day. Later................GOOD LUCK HAVE FUN!!!!!!
