Thank you all for the replies.
People would literally follow me down the street or come up to my car to ask about him. He was very friendly and happy to go places, but knew when to protect me.
When the vet left the room to prepare to put him down, Paco died in my arms. It was then I really knew how much Paco loved me. He waited until he knew I would be okay.
I am so angry at Kraftwerk K9.
Wayne should be ashmed, he knew when he sold me that dog how much I needed a dog like Paco and he knew how happy Paco made me. I spent A LOT of money at 23 years old on a dog that I planned on having a long time and providing a great home for. When I tried contacting him he intentionally ignored me. I never in my wildest dreams thought I would go through anything like this. Other people should know about Kraftwerk and how they conduct business.
Wayne is NOT to credit for Paco being a great dog at all. I got VERY lucky with Paco's personality and protection abilities. Wayne is just skilled at shipping dogs in and marketing/selling them.

I believe his puppies were going for $3500 when I visited his place.

Hi I'm so sorry for your loss.
When did all this happen? I see from his pedigree page your dog was born in 2004. So this is not a dog that you bought as a puppy and is not a dog of Kraftwerk's breeding? How old was the dog when you bought him? How long after you bought the dog did he get sick and when did you contact Kraftwerk about his illness? Did the dog come with a guarantee and if so what was guaranteed?
Does anyone expect a broker to guarantee an adult dog against all genetic issues?

This happened last year. Paco was sick for about 2 years, just when I thought he was getting better, he would get sick again. I did not buy him as a puppy, he was an adult. I wanted an adult because I really needed a protection dog. I contacted Kraftwerk right away when we found out it was genetic. I would never expect Kraftwerk to do anything if it was something like Paco got hit by a car or anything like that- this was genetic (documented by two vets, one being a Internist specializing in ardiology, liver disease, immunine mediated disease, and endocrinology) She said he was a bad case and couldn't believe Wayne wouldn't return our calls and emails, *especially* since I spent so much money. At age 23, thousands of dollars is not easy to come up with, but Paco was so important to me. Wayne knew this too. He never represented himself as a broker, Paco was at his place I physically went there to pick Paco up. Everything he explained to me was about HIS company, not someone else’s. My money went to Wayne. Maybe Wayne knew I was younger and didn’t think I was important. I am so disgusted, I can not stress how important Paco is to me, I literally will never be the same because Paco became my best friend, he went everywhere with me. A part of me is missing. I wanted Wayne to return my phone calls and HELP me figure out how to save my dog. When I went to buy Paco, Wayne told me he was sold to someone else but returned by another buyer because he “barked at vacuums” (which when I got Paco home, he in fact DID bark at my vacuum) he then assured me that is ALL the is wrong with him. I wonder if the previous guy knew something about Paco I did not.
When you spend that much on a dog, you expect to have a HEALTHY protection dog. Kraftwerk did not do this.

This is unfortunate and Wayne probably should have talked to you about it but he was probably unaware that there was any such problem when he sold you this dog. Perianal fistulas are suspected to be genetic simply because it mostly occurs in the German Shepherd breed but dogs of other breeds do get them as well so genetic predisposition may or may not be a factor. Either way, other factors are also suspect, especially routine annual vaccinations...you are as likely to have unwittingly contributed to the problem as Wayne was to have unwittingly sold you a dog with a predisposition to it. I have lost two dogs to perianal fistulas so I know how expensive cyclosporine can be and how heartbreaking the condition but I could not, in good conscience, hold the breeder responsible because he had no way of testing for or knowing about it.

I'm sorry to hear of your ordeal. You aren't alone in your dedication to throwing all your assets and energy into trying to save your dog here. I know you said its too soon to get another dog, but when the time comes, please, PLEASE consider a rescued dog. There are SO many in kill shelters and foster right now, as good as any dog most of us have ever owned or bred, certainly as good or better than what you'd get from that breeder/broker, healthy and even trained in many cases... literally dying for a home with someone like you. The choices are literally endless. Feel free to contact me when the time comes. I am certain we can hook you up with a super forever friend no matter where your preferences lie.
