Sable, you're joking, right? You're being sarcastic?
Ol Roy and Science Diet are on par with each other, though at least Ol Roy is cheap. You really feel screwed if you get conned into feeding its equivalent (Science Diet) and paying as much as people pay for a good, grain-free kibble.

Thanks for the help everyone! I am generally of the opinion "if it ain't broke don't fix it" and he seems to be growing well, active, healthy, alert, good coat condition, so I don't really see a reason to change his diet. I know Canidae isn't a bad food...so I think I will stick with it for now.
I have no use for Science Diet...I've read that label!

I use Canine GS puppy. My two are 14 months old and are doing really well on it...although it is expensive. They had stomach problems on other brands.
I would love to be able to try something not so expensive though.

I came across this forum when I did a search for Vom Sucherquelle. I'm looking into getting a pup from them from an upcoming Molly/Birko litter. How did you Sucherquelle owners feel about your experience with the breeder? So far, I've got a fairly positive outlook on them. I'm planning to make a visit to see them soon! Thanks!

that's true, however, if you have the means and the time, why stop at GOOD when u can do EXCELLENT?
i tried myself, switched to raw, and worked for me. my dog had a lot of skin problems and with some patience and trying he got better, doing great now.
i tried solid gold, totw, b.b. etc. nothing worked, even salmon oil seemed to worsen the situation. now its just raw, probiotics, period. just my two cents, heres congo at 6 mths.

I never fed large breed puppy food, just a good ALS kibble. We now feed Nature's Domain (generic brand of TOTW sold at Costco), but used to feed them Diamond Naturals. My vet thinks my gsds have beautiful coats and she asked me what I feed them. When I told her what I feed them, she said, "Makes sense. That's good food and it shows!" So glad my vet does not push the Science Diet.

I know Jill personally, although I do not own one of her dogs, I have sent a coulple people her way, she lives not far from me, she has great facilities and takes "top knotch" care of her dogs, she is a straight shooter, very knowledgable, will answer all questions, has a fair contract and gives a great info binder on your new puppy. I would for sure reccomend her to anyone looking for DDR puppy, the one person I sent her way, that I still keep in contact with, I board the dog from time to time, is extremley happy. The dog is now around two, Atze/Franka litter, I think. |
