i don't like to sit in vet waiting areas either......for a couple of reasons:
1. yeah, everyone is afraid of my dogs.
2. its an excellent way to pick up whatever "bugs" have come thru that
door in the past 72 hours.
i usually check in with the receptionist, leaving the dog in the car until they
are ready for them. then make it as quick as possible. in and out. i never
leave dogs at the vet overnight. even if they require surgery, i am adamant
about picklng them up by 4 or 5 in the afternoon.

I am the proud mama to very sweet and lovable rescue pit bulls...I know all too well the reaction you speak of & my boys wouldn't hurt a fly!! What I find especially funny, are those that are petting 1 of them and then they ask, "what type of dog is he"...well as soon as I say pit bull...99% recoil in horror! As if knowing what he is, will suddenly make him decide to attack you when he has been enjoying your attention for the last 15mins.
Oh well, such is life with certain breeds. LOL

Our vet has separate waiting rooms for dogs and cats. You do meet the most unusual people at the vet!
