You might try doing a search on both list and look for dwarf and/or TIG.

In the vet's office today someone mentioned a horse product that helps to regrow fur.  In this case the dog lost fur due to licking a spot.  A dwarf has gene problems, so this may not work.  Cannot remember the name.  Horse store is not open on Mon and Tues.  If I remember and can go there, will look up the name.  It is something like Mega???????  It is too late for me to research now, so try yourself right now.

I was looking for this post and ran into another one where like me a person said to contact TIG.  As I said on that post, did you ever email TIG and did she respond to you?

CULL

All this fuss to save culls for what ?? Is there some sort of shortage of dogs that you would want this shit ?

This is why culling is done. Take away culling, and you have people spending money on a dog for nothing. "special" in this case means SHITTER. DO away with the dog and get a healthy dog. Why anyone would want to spend their hard earned money on this is crazy.

Well said Jeff.
Exaclty my sentiments. Keeping these sick and unhealthy animals alive is verging on cruelty IMO

i have heard and DO KNOW OF DWARFS that have led normal lives, apart from a few tablets thrown in their food each day,and have lived a normal life span.who are we to dictate to breeders who keep the dwarf themselves and love it for the gsd that it is.Culling is wot was done in the past.WOULD YU CULL YOUR CHILDREN IF ONE WAS DIAGNOSED AS A DWARF OR HAD AN INCURABLE DISEASE WHICH NECESSITATE THAT CHILD TAKING MEDICATION FOR THE REST OF HIS/HER LIFE????Let ppl.do what they want to.ITS NO BUSINESS OF YOURS.i,m under the impression that they are infertile so they cant pass it on.i think your comments are cruel to these caring and compassionate ppl.Carole S.

To noddi:
Led normal lives?!! I dont think so!
They may sometimes live for many years, but they *never* live perfectly normal lives.
Oh, and BTW, I am not dictating to anyone. I am simply expressing my own opinion.

CULL? nice attitude! its this same attitude that has the breed rampant with its various disorders.rather than face up to the existence of the problem, its swept under the carpet.the more popular the dog,the bigger the brush!
i think you'll find most breeders know or have experienced dwarfism and i also think you'll find their solution to the problem is the same>CULL.why?because they dont want anybody discovering that "their"  lines, carry the gene.and you might be surprised to know some of the dogs that carry the same,OR maybe not.

AND spending money for nothing?surely if you get joy and love, and return it and the dog is healthy, isn't it money well spent?sure isnt money made for spending, anyhow!

AND live normal lives?in all honesty ,how peoples dogs, live normal lives?stuck in a cage for most of the day and walked or "worked"for the usual two hours a day( if their lucky)not that normal methinks,so,i dont really think its fair to slate these people for giving the dogs a decent shot at  life?
And dont fear, the reaper brings them all, good and bad.
