Hudson,
It sounds like you have an awesome dog!
What a character! I love dogs that are the way you describe yours!
I was laughing pretty hard reading your post.
I am sure she will be a lifetime of fun for you and you will do well in trials also!

Thanks OGBS, I hope your right about the trails next year. If not we'll be comic relief for a while.
We just love her though, I prefer a dog with a certain edge & harder to train.

Afghan hound. Good grief. I have always thought that there were a few breeds of dogs that every "trainer" should have to take to a certain level before they can consider themselves decent. That breed is one of them.

I am going to look at the video you linked right now.

Van den Huevel still keeps studs to themselves right ?

Hi Jeff, has far as I know Van Den Heuvel does not do outside stud service, but better off checking with them.

There is no other breed of dog that will humble a trainer like a Afghan Hound. Mine did just that & stole a piece of my heart too. She will be forever missed.

Take care, Carol

Hi Jeff, do you own a female dog from Van Den Heuvel? If you do should give them a call about stud service once in a great while they will make an exception for a client.
Take care

No I don't but I heard that the studs were in house only or whatever fancy term is popular now.

Daryl are you planning on breeding Hutch soon?  You're real lucky man, I never got a chance to get a puppy out of Max, and now he's gone.  Went so young..

Whatever happened to that Hafa daughter you had Daryl, I remember she was looking great,

Actually had two Hafa daughters, both from van den Heuvel, and stayed with my wife in our seperation.  I've discussed breeding either of them to van den Heuvel studs in the last year after titling, and the answer was clearly NO.

Jena (Reno/Hafa) achieved her BH, but was unable to finish her protection work to attain her level 1 title, due to a degenerative back disease, and was sadly put down recently after a progressive worsening of her condition.

Tara (Orry/Hafa) is being considered for sale, and is ready for her trialing from what I understand.  They can both be viewed on the Colorado branch site www.ehretk9.com/females.html

Hutch is available for stud, but I myself have no breeding females on hand at present.  There's discussion about breeding him to a decent showline female I recently met, with a few puppy owners already in waiting.  I can PM you contact info if that might interest you.

I've never met Max myself, and have met a lot of other nice dogs, but I've never been as impressed with any dog I met on the field as well as my own Hutch.
