Abby Normal and Peterlee, what you do not seem to realize is that the links Videx puts onto this forum relate to matters other than Videx. As the links are for the benefit of the wider community I can see no reason why the links should be disqualified from the forum. The links are not the opinion of Videx but merely information based subject that is useful and valuable to all GSD enthusiasts.
If either of you have issues unrelated to this subject then take them up with Videx directly to their website and keep them off of the database.

This thread is about whether the Moderator has acted reasonably or not. So far as I can see:-
1. There can be no question that he/she has. The relevant terms and conditions seem to have been breached.
2. In any case whether something should or should not be removed is in the sole discretion of the Moderator.
Abby Normal has pointed out something else that I am sure many others have noticed, namely, that ‘Since the Moderator has been operating the whole tone of the Board has changed for the better’. I for one am pleased about that and so I think the Moderator deserves support rather than criticism. It was not so long ago I recall that many people were screaming out for some sort of moderation. Whether there is moderation or not contributions to this board are voluntary not compulsory. The owner of the Board is fully entitled to decide what is permissible and what is not.
If Videx has any contributions to make to this Board he is free to do so or not. If he does do so then he must comply with the TOS just like everyone else and the decision of the Moderator is final on that.

As I said in my post I have no problem either way in terms of weblinks whether to own sites or other information. More often than not Videx' links are via his own site, rarely are they direct links. Here was me thinking this thread was about The German Sieger 2011 and NOT about if the Mods are right or wrong. Maybe Abby Normal? or Peters&Lee could explain how their comments are " directly related to this topic" when the topic, thread is about the Sieger, at least it was the last time I looked.
If the mods want to delete or alter comments, would help if the thread title was also altered........very misleading.

What a bunch of bologna! Moderation of message boards is useless because over time the moderator ends up injecting their own personal feelings in their moderation of the board which ultimately creates more problems than there was without a moderator. Look at this thread already for an example. It is virtually impossible to find someone that can remain completely unbiased over time. I find it a little fishy that all of a sudden people who post their website after their names have become a problem in the chat area. What is the big deal here? Why make a mountain out of a mole hill? It seems obvious to me that the moderator is “splitting hairs” here and may be acting this way out of spite. It was never a problem in the past so why is it a problem now? What harm is VIDEX causing by posting a link to share information on his website? I personally think that it is a good thing for the PDB when anyone does that. They are actually promoting the PDB as well when they posts links like that.
Personally, I use the PDB as a portal to find more information on the GSD outside the PDB. Therefore, VIDEX is only helping to promote the PDB as "a one stop shop for all of your GSD information needs" when he posts links to his website. Why is the PDB shooting themselves in the foot with this nonsense? It’s ridiculous and unnecessary, so please stop the practice. The sooner the moderator recognizes the value of all the people that post their links here the better off the PDB will be in the long run.
And by the way, who gives a crap what other forums do.

The fundamental question is: was/is the subject matter of this thread including the LINK I placed on this thread above, an ADVERT?
I submit that it was/is certainly not.
It was a provision of information on a, if the the, major annual GSD event in the whole World. The German SV Sieger Show.
Next years show. There is a collection of information on my webpage which I gather together onto one webpage which helps people. I know this because of the visitors such Sieger Show information pages of past years have attracted, many thousands, and the thanks I receive from numerous people through emails and on this forum.
Next years Sieger Show, it is going to be particularly difficult for people to book hotels & flights because of the date it is being held.
I do not have any need to promote my website through such LINKS, it is simply my gathering of useful and relevant information onto one page.

I enjoy reading Videx's impressions on the BSZS every year and when I go to his site I do not feel "marketed to" in any way!
