Hey if you are still checking out Candlehill german shepherds let me know, I am getting a puppy from her in just four days on Nov.7th. The price of the pup was $1200 but i think she may have increased her prices to $1500 since i signed her contract a couple of months ago. She has been great to deal with and has gone out of her way to get her puppy to me, I live in Pensacola,fl. So far all of my dealings with her have been top rate.Good luck with your search, beware of Briarwood shepherds in michigan, they have long coats as well, but she totally tried to rip me off, we actually ended up reporting her to the BBB there. Hope you find the right breeder if you already haven't.

Update: After the complaint to the BBB was filed the deposit was returned in full.

I would suggest that you think about looking for a "local" breeder.  That way you can go look at the dam and/or sire.  Meet the breeder, see the facilities and talk in person about their breeding philosophy.  Also, you can visit the pups at about 5-6 weeks old and start looking at the pups, how they interact together, how they respond to people and thinking about selection.  Then at 7 weeks pick your pup out of the litter based on your observations of the pups structure and temperment and drive him home with the family.   It is an awesome way to get a puppy.   Remember there is more to the line than just how they look.

Local, local, local, see the pearents, see the progeny if possible. this the best insurance.

Long coats shed less, I know I own both. Long coats are my favorite, I am actually glad to see that someone is breeding one, I know I will get my ass kicked for that, but than I don't care what any one thinks, I don't discriminate because of the coat Lent, as LC were ok for many years in Germany till the decide they are no good any more. ;) Well I take that decision back and I think they are still good. At least for me, and if you look through the website they are ofa and pen. Listen to Jim he might know more as he had send you a PM.

amen to that. judge them based on the dog working ability not the long coat, all the long coats that I ever owned were the heardest workers, and man pleasers. I can't say the same about short coats.

Oki, is it just me or their website seems too good to be true? Shit how many have that balanced breeding program, SCh dogs, SAR and cross breed them? Well going through the website I have to say I am impressed. But I would not buy a dog from them without verifying all the info and visiting them, and only because to me they sound to good to be true rather than anything else. Like I said I am impressed.

My dog came from Candle Hill and I am happy to no end!

Our vet says she is the most beautiful shepherd he has ever seen, and our trainer says she is the smartest he has ever worked with! Elizabeth has been awesome all along the way. She returns ALL of my phone calls within hours and always has very helpful answers to my questions. She really cares about her dogs.

My puppy is now eight months old. She is outgoing, confident, beautiful and super smart. She is great with people and dogs. She loves to play and loves to work!

I  would absolutely not hesitate to get another dog from this breeder.
