Yes, drives are genetic. However, drives can be enhanced with the proper nurturing of the puppy and training of a dog.

Hamza, I am a firm believer that drives and other aspects of temperament are genetic, and if the right person nurtures those traits then they can be enhanced and utilised. However, by the same token, if you put a numpty on the other end of the lead, then its a recipe for disaster.
