I want to thank all of you that have responded.
He does in fact have all of his teeth.
He is very intense in his behaviors Schutzhund, ball etc.
A bit pushy with the two female dogs I have but a teddy bear with me.
DebiSue I thank you for your advice. He has been in a few local dog shows but I have only ever stacked a dog with both feet back, hocks parallel and perpendicular to the ground so I can't quite figure this out.
I am going to find some breed surveys to watch before I attempt one with him as I want to get a good rating.
I think he's great and will continue to think that regardless of how he does but would like to be aware of any shortcomings to give him a better chance and lessen any disappointment.
Again thank you for your input.

My opinion also is not going to be valuable, since I can't stack a dog nor can I point out faults that are obvious to the trained eye.. so for what it's worth... I think your boy is handsome and personally like his head and thickness of his legs.
See? I told you I wouldn't be of any help :-) It's great that you are working him and have titles on him. Congratulations, I know it's a lot of work and you should be proud of your accomplishments with him.
I have also posted attemps at "stacking" for the same reason, I'd like to get my dogs breed surveyed, and was hoping to get an idea of what the judge might tell me. I pretty much got the same answers as you and supposed afterwards that my dogs are not the best examples of the breed... I am also working towards titles. and once we have those, THEN I'll see what happens at their breed surveys.
Best Wishes,
Stacy
P.S. What is his pedigree?

I understand the "square stack" from having messed with Collies back in the day. Stack the front end first. Get his front feet squarely under him and at shoulder width. You still want that hock straight up and down on what I call the "outside" foot. The one towards the judge. Bring that "inside" foot nearest you up until it is lined up with his navel and slightly out from under him. It takes some work because this is not a natural pose for the dog. I did it by myself just putting those feet where I wanted them and telling her to "stack" as I was doing it. When she finally held it for a moment I would say "stack-stay" then reward her with a treat. Now I can stack her and walk away, pick up my camera and snap a shot. I can't always get her to look straight ahead because she would rather focus on me so it is nice to have someone to hold their attention for good stacks. I have a nice stack of Echo but failed to notice she was standing East/West on me until after I snapped the pics. Other than that I really like this shot. Well, other than the fact the background is cluttered. LOL

I agree with Smiley!!! I love the look of your dog! If I was a judge he'd win! Excellent structure.
Beautiful!

Hi Stacey,
This is a link to his pedigree.
He is out of V Igor von der Grube Waldecke X Manou vom Oberhausener-Kruez
(If someone knows what the V in front of his dad stands for I'd love to know...)

DebiSue again thank you for your help. The tip about the offside foot being "at the naval" is one of the pieces needed.
Thanks for the other imput (mikadene) that helps me know what I'm looking at.
I'm going to persue his SchH2 in the next few months and then maybe try for a breed survey.
For those that have commented about seeing him work I would put up a video but don't think this site supports them.
He is up on the workingdogeu site with some.
I always wanted a GSD but for some reason fell in love with Dobermans in '76.
I know we all love our dogs but I think he is awesome.
I will have him 2 yrs in May. He came over here from Germany at 3 yrs.
I met him at the airport for a few hours, he went to the trainers for 2 days and came to my house with three adult female Dobermans, quite a few cats, 3 pet Geese in the yard and some pocket pets.
He never missed a beat. Within 48 hours it was like he was raised here from a puppy.
He and my one Dobe are within 2 weeks in age. I thought she was fast but they shoot out that door and he can catch her in a heartbeat, and it's always a race around the property line. They are best buds.
The first few time the trainer came here and I saw him do protection work he actually scared me.
It was strange to see the teddy bear turn into a protector.
Again thanks for all the input, I will love him regardless of the outcome of any survey or scores we get together.
Most importantly he has made me realize that although I still love the Doberman because of my experience with him I will now always also own a German Shepherd.

Sounds like you got a good one Franki, good for you. Once you have a dog like that you are hooked, like the rest of us. ;)
V (Vorzuglich)
Is the German word for excellent. The V designation when proceeding a dog's name indicates that it has been evaluated as excellent in a German style conformation show. In order to earn the V the dog must be entered in the working classes meaning it must have a Schutzhund title. The V is reserved for dogs with excellent conformation and movement. It is the highest conformation rating that can be awarded in a local or regional show.

Being relatively new to the breed, I only recognized a few of the kennel names, but he looks to have a nice working background. When are you planning on getting him breed surveyed?
I'd love to hear the results. It's nice to be able to hear what opinions people on here give and then hear what the judge says.

He very much reminds me of my very first male dog , only mine was slighty smaller.
Having read the comments, I agree with some and I always assume when someone asks for an opinion,
It's a critique, on the conformation of the dog is what they are seeking.
Please do not take offence.
I believe that people involved with showing, are more aware of the breed standard than those involved in working ,as the working dog 's evaluation is based on preformance
As there is only one Breed standard for our G S D's.WE should all be aware of it.
Sorry Franki , my critique is as follows.
Above medium to large , medium strong, black and tan male, which is slighty long in proportion.
With a good head and expression , with dark eyes
and very good parallel planes of the skull and bridge of the nose.
Good withers, a weak back which is slighty long ,
and a croup which is short and steep.
The top line should be much stronger.
Good front angulations where the upper arm is slighty short and should be of better lay.
Very good hind angulations.
The depth of chest is correct and the dog stands straight in front.
