Ask your vet about Cartrophen or Adequan injections

I've got a dog who will be 17 in less than a month on it. I give her a coating agent, Sucralfate, before the Metacam to prevent irritation to the stomach and she does quite well on it. She's much less painful and seems happier.

thanks all of you i still dont know what to do my head is battered dont know what to do for best....i have heard some positives and negatives re metacam....i think i will speak to my vet next time i take her in.....a couple of girls i work with one of them being a nurse are really against metacam she said she i used it on her labrador but only used it after a long walk when she went a bit stiff..... as she did not like using it daily, but with me i dont just want to control her pain(obviously i dont want her in pain ) but i want to try and stop it from getting any worse i know it cant be cured but i want something that will stop it getting worse.....with regards to excersise i was always told a couple of little walks every day and not to exert her too much so not sure aqua if her running up a hill will be too much for her....i am trying to keep her weight down i had her weighed when she was at vets yesterday and she was just a little over 35kg so dont know if you would class that as her being overweight i suppose she could do with losing a bit.....she is still very active bit like a puppy but she is only 4 years old....as i said thanks a lot it was very informative cheers everyone
