Full bloods were done but not all results back as yet.
He has no clinical signs of illness apart from excessive hunger and weight loss.
He is drinking normally, feaces are firm, no temperature, no current skin or ear complaints, no hyperactivity, no vomitting, no aggression, no panting infact he is the happiest he has been since prior to the first episode of illness nearly 3yrs ago.

Could it be a side effect of the steroids? - I know they can cause excessive hunger, but I think that weight gain is more likely than weight loss?...thyroid issue - a possibility as this can be autoimmune and therefore consistent with his other issues, thyroid disease in humans is very complex with a huge range of symptoms not all of which are obvious in all patients, and pesentations are not always typical. I don't know about dogs... I had a dog at 5 developed severe acute pancreatic symptoms, but he was miserable, not happy and active like your dog, does not sound like this..
I hope it can be resolved - let us know
Good luck

Thanks everyone, I was back at the vets today all results were okay apart from Albumin/Globulin were too low.
The good news though is that in the last 2 wks he has actualy gained 4kg even though nothing in his rotine or diet as changed.
The vet thinks he may have had a malabsorbtion problem but with him being on daily steroids it as corrected itself.
For now I just have to monitor his weight and if he starts loosing it again they will do an Endoscopy and take samples from his gut.
