You obviously don't have a whole lot of experience w/OFA. You are aware, at least, that OFA certification is merely an opinion?
Yes; politics....geez, you talk about everyone else being in Disneyland, and you think OFA is really an unbiased non-profit organization?
This thread isn't about OFA. Start a new one if you want, and I bet you'll get some interesting stories from people who have a lot of experience.

Jeff, who should you not breed to then;)
I guess in germany there are fewer police/militarydogs in breedings because they have their system with the german korung and SCH-title for breedings, but here in sweden for example you don´t need a sch-title to breed hence also many servicedogs are used in breeding. And not all breeders are trying to produce sportdogs only, a bunch strive for dogs that also should do well servicework or even are more aimimg for that market than sportdogs, at least in this part of europe. Actually I recently read that the best litter one breeder that has over 70 litters produced so far was from a male that worked as an army sentrydog.

I was very interested at the start of this thread but it turned bad.
I just want to say that I am planning to add a new pup to our pack next year. i am looking for one that could be trained as a service dog, possibly do some herding and has good genetic obedience. From the research I jave done Molly's dogs are just what I am looking for in a GSD. As a perspective buyer I would never even consider a dog from some of you who are so offensive on here and I commend Molly for taking not stooping to that level ( And I do not know her personally) . I hope to have a relationship with the breeder of my next dog and Molly as well as Hans seem like a person of integrity and knowledge that I could have that with,
Some of the breeders here, no matter how great their dogs, disqualify themselves from my list just from their mean spirited attitudes.

As far as I know, working police dogs aren't generally bred in Germany, hence no long line of Police Dogs. Most ARE titled, however, as the DPO/DH is required for ceretification of all street dogs. (at least it was last time I asked)
Are there exceptions? Yes. Evidence Indicator dogs, for example, are highly specialized in what they do, and few & far between. Nobody cares if they bite or not. A notable exception as a stud dog was V Andy vom Bildsdaule.

I wish I had thought to video tape him when I saw him win the DPO Nationals here in USA years ago. What a dog. I do have some pix of him with his handler somewhere...

BRAVO!! Thank you Jenni78. I spent countless hours in grad school studying bone growth among a few other things only to have some twit on this post think the hip score alone IS IT. I'll take a good radiologist reading an xray any day. OFA is not only an opinion, it has no comparison to the SV system no matter who decides to make some silly chart to compare one with the other.
Interesting post on the military dog with 70 litters. The numbers in Europe are considered "standard practice". The numbers of military dogs in Europe and US is huge yet those stats on trained, soundess, faults, etc. never get mixed into progeny records for use to the general public. One has to really dig for any information in some countries on their police/military dog profiles.

what makes you think that Police Dogs are not generally bred in Germany?

i had a litter from erri and still have a female i picked at 4 weeks and never veered from the pick. some were sold for police work other to family for ppd dogs. they have even temporment and are really high prey drive. breed same bitch,a mambo ps daughter, to dyk z westwood,a grandson ot norbo ben ju, from the westwood kennels, they are GREAT and have made great police prospects and are being trained for that .i also, have a brother to erri, also an orry son, fargo markio bohemia. it seems his ofspring has more drive as pups than erris' did at the same age. as bob said. erri has a great history. shame it ended so suddenly. mike is a good trainer and him and erri as a team is going to be missed..

Shepherdpal, if we're talking pups, I don't care what the breeders attitude is like on a messageboard. What they produce is what I'm concerned with. I'm not looking for a future relationship outside of a puppy. That's match.com.
