Gsdstudent, if you're implying that I run a puppy mill or the equivalent, go pick on somebody else. You're way off base. If you don't like my dogs, don't look. But I can tell you I have probably done more good for the breed with my "breeding practice" than the majority of breeders "adhering to SV rules".
You meant no harm, but you seem to have a problem admitting you were wrong. That's fine, lots of people are like that.

joanro; not implying you run a puppy mill. I just do not believe in '' no rules''. those are your words not mine. I can recognize a puppy mill at first glance. I know you have a great program because you told me so. nothing personal. I am just trying to make a point. Find one thing wrong with a program and ditch it is the common theme here. It is too easy, and I am calling people on the selfish reasoning that does not lead to better breeding, your case is the exception.

Gsdstudent, I said 'no rules here,' that doesn't mean that I don't have self imposed rules.
If the SV system of rules is so wonderful for the breed, why are there so many GSD with SV ratings still producing missing teeth, missing testicles, poor temperament, bad hips, and structure not conducive to the utility for which the breed is meant? That's just a question for you, not a challenge , as I'd truly like to learn why their omnipotent rules have not resulted in improvement in the breed. BTW, how about dropping your "handle" and show us Who you are and what you have produced ? It's not wise to take advice from an anonymous person, no matter how loud they "scream".

I'd love to see half of "the Preachers Dogs", even if they did not breed them, what dogs do you own, what's the pedigree, "your perfect dog.
What titles did YOU achieve, In other words;
In other words, what do you know, not what did you hear or read?

USDA forces puppy mills to adhere to their rules, which are strict, but that hasn't been beneficial to the breeds they produce. So, rules are not always helpful. A person needs integrity and knowledge, not rules imposed by a governing body which are self-serving. JMO

You've got a point!

If one would like to implement and organization or team with one from somewhere else----
I would like to ask- what governing body for breed registry and breed worthiness is doing the best job job to protect form and function? Which one has the most positive impact? which one since being in place has truly improved the highest percentage of quality dogs?
As it seems to me anytime you have this type of organization the dogs change to fit the organizations views regardless of intentions. I feel this is why we have such a separation amongst demographics in sport, service, and show. As every organization in those three categories have there on types making many different types of dogs in each. Every governing body feels they are doing what is right or justifies what they are doing is right to there respected communities and others. Yet you all have seen the GSD's (or at least pictures) under these organizations and many have seen the difference in mentalities of dogs produced under various orgs.
My point for bringing this up, is we cant even agree on what a GSD should be. So how would you truly be able to better the breed with an organization and be able to enforce it upon all of those whom dont follow as a nation.
Genuinly asking......

UKC goes for the total dog.

Let´s think different - AKC is the breed registration - why are there no informations about..
- any official titles, be it IPO, SAR, or something else
- breed survey
- litter mates
- show ratings
- health certifications
At that point there would be some official acknowledgement, and potential puppy buyers would be able to see a difference between nothing and at least something.
Another question - you don´t want to use the German system - so what should be mandatory in YOUR opinion?
WHAT ARE YOUR PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS BEFORE BREEDING TWO DOGS?

Joanro: If the SV system of rules is so wonderful for the breed, why are there so many GSD with SV ratings still producing missing teeth, missing testicles, poor temperament, bad hips, and structure not conducive to the utility for which the breed is meant?
This question is pretty easy to answer - two factors are involved
1. nature
2. human beings
1. In the long run a caring and knowledgeable breeder will produce better dogs than a BYB, but even the best breeder will not only breed superior dogs - genetics not always work the way we want them to.
2. That´s all of us - The best regulations don´t work, if people start to cheat the system - and there are several reasons
a. money
b. pride
c. honor
But for being able to cheat the system you
1. need to understand and know the system
2. need to have the knowledge about training and titling
As long as only maybe 5 % ( that´s only a guess, does anybody have real numbers? ) of the German Shepherd breeders in your country ever trained and titled a dog by themselves you will need several years of learning before you will be able to cheat as well as some Germans do.
Thanks to the invention of internet, handy uploads, youtube, facebook, and recording camers, cheating became more and more difficult - good for the breed.
