Von Lotta,
The Harits Bohemia dogs from Czech are a good example, but still an exception to the rule.
Eichenluft,
Sorry not really impressed, average at best.

Average - compared with other show-line dogs? Let's see the better ones then - would love to. anyway, doesn't matter - I like him :)

Average at best compared to any GSD doing the work. If your going to use other show line's as the benchmark, you've pretty much summed up the problem (low expectations in case you're wondering).

Fello,
You crack me up. The best way to talk about what you like in a dog is to just go enjoy it and share the experience. Not try and tear something down to make you feel better. Your post has done nothing to support your claim. I just hope you feel that much bigger and better for your statements!
Have a great day and enjoy your dogs!

Jacko,
It's not about me at all, it's about bringing some of you back to reality.

I've really gotten under the skin of some folks who are PM'ing me to know what my problem is. If I haven't made it clear enough by now, I never will. Some people will advocate this type of breeding, and I'm just one of those that don't. If you take issue with my having an opinion that differs from yours, then too bad for you. If no one minds (and I'm sure no one does), I'm going to hang this topic up for a while. So if you want to put this type of breeding in a more favorable light without my interruption, now's your chance. I never said it couldn't work, but I am saying no one has the discipline or the resources to make it succeed.

Enjoy what you have, I will enjoy mine. Just trying to help with your ignorance. However, I just don't see the need to prove anything to you.
This is what I am talking about. There are all these working showlines, until it is time to man up and show us. Not tryig to be a dick, but spreading bullshit about these shitters isn't making it easier for us to believe you.

I wasn't going to post here in that thread anymore, but now I can't resist.
Jeff Oehlsen, I looked at your new dog and want to wish you the best. Be very careful though when you breed your "shitter", you might be in for a surprise, since sometimes genes from the past can creep up with you, especially when unintentionally paired up with the same. He is such a mix of different lines and when you have time, go ahead and spend some time on his pedigree and count how many times he goes back to the dreaded dogs that started the division. These dogs were avoided by workingline breeders like the plague but apparantly not with the French lines - Quanto von der Wienerau and Canto von der Wienerau.
Very educational and interesting to see that French ring lines did not shun these dogs and built their lines on that foundation, just like the showlines. Lots of old Wienerau stock - Liane, Dixie (who apparantly was sold to a French breeder), Canto, Quanto! Hey, maybe they could be the saviors of our showline shitters, eh! Seems that they have more in common with the french lines than with the workinglines. Please, when you have time, complete and post the rest of the pedigree. I would love to research your dog's sireline as well.
Happy training!
Chris
