kimbo grandchildren fast in schh
my point is schh does not tell a thing about the dogs ability to work but I would rather call it a test for how good a dog handler are you
suenicc
I know but I know to that many use this method to get the dog in drive as mostly trainiers does not just because the dog lacks drive
jeff
I like Ink to about Lary I don't know much off his training but I just like what I see in the video

I have both off these type dogs at home a male that has high prey not exstreme but when he was young quite difficult to handle but has alot of defense to and he is not the type off dog you bring to children other than the ones at home but a stable dog with good temperement. he is a one person dog are very social but in the middle , and the female is an exstreme dog in prey and hunt for a gsd, she is easier to control because she is a female and soft for her handler , but she is very stable around children not just mine but any she is very social towards people , both dogs have been used in security work in the city for many years and both have past the test that they can do basic obedience and defend me as their handler and she did fine even if she is a prey driven dog , she is good in dark rooms, slippery floors , and all these things , she is not to trusted around small animals she is in the red zone when she spots what could be prey not just a ball but animals like rabbits, guineypigs, and birds. thats why we dont have small animals here even though I like guinypigs alot but after 5 years she is still in the red zone not because she wants to kill them only but her prey drive is just wild for a gsd. good dog to work with I like both off them my male I like better but that is pesonelly, but I like these prey dogs to that is why I almost never play ball or something like because she gets hurt in the legs because she is to wild but not a bad thing like you put it

I agree on this statement is to on schh
written from Bart Bellon
IPO is a beautiful program to watch but is not much of a test. For me IPO selects more the good dog handler instead of the good dog. It is always the same and the agility is very weak.

Myret,
1. of course all dogs with high prey aren´t unstable or bad, who want´s a dog with low prey and fightingdrive anyway, not me. The way you reasoning most malinois are then mentally stronger dogs because they are more lively and like to chase toys. A dog is more than just prey and defence, isn´t it`?
2. Why do you like certain SCH-dogs if it´s mostly the handlers that makes them, this can be said about all SCH-dogs you like then , are dogs from kimbo made good by handlers but dogs from belchick or some other dog you like are somehow different to this rule? Very strange.
3. Then bart have the same opinion like many other, you don´t breed dogs based on points and titles only, just like I say;) I´m not so fond of SCH, but I hardly think ringsports or other programs are immune to dogs that are not so strong in all areas outside their particular sport.

Myret, I would have to soundly disagree with your assessment of the video on "prey drive". What you are seeing is possessive drive not prey drive. Essentially the items on the ground were not true "prey". Prey represents movement, these objects were stagnant, no movement. The dog "hoarding" the objects and basically possessing them with his paws represents more of a guarding behavior and does not necessarily portray prey. A dog could almost walk up to or stalk up to an object and exhibit the same behavior. Reminds me of the Koos video on "food drive" which again was more representative of possessiveness rather than food drive.

agree on that there is more to a dog than prey and defense

I dont like the schh dogs because off their titel but because off their genes and temp not the titel, some dogs show more off themselves than others
Ink as you saw is not a well trained dog on the video but he shows alot off himself he can be trained to look boring as most off the others we with a skilled handler or with other methods
no programme is free of faults but I still think that many off the other programmes gives a more direction on selection of the good dogs and get rid of the bad ones more than schh just because a not so good dog can do well in schh with a skilled handler and who can see the difference between a good dog or skilled handler.

the video is not so much linked in here because of the dog, what I mean by the video is many dog owners do this ball motivation where they swing the ball around mostly to get the dog in drive and to chase it before obedience and then hide it away

sorry wrong video I meant
I agree
but I think that if the dog did not have high prey drive he would not have this possieveness over the toys but again some do anyway
