 I never say 'no' to my baby puppies, re-direct them instead....
recall, with their name and sit for food, before going out, etc...and the bond is the biggie for sure!!

As far as obedience, the first thing I teach is eye contact in front and heel position, and platz.  If they will bark, then "speak" too because I like barking but like to control it by having it on command, and showing the puppy he can control certain things with his bark.
