You are lucky in the US. I live in the UK and we are currenly paying around £1.40 per ltr which is £6.35 gallon. This compares to roughly £2.36 gallon which you are paying , This is for diesel, unleaded is slighltly cheaper. We are now trying to car share to go to shows where possible just to keep the cost down.

from what I understand you have a $2.20 tax per ltr and an additional 20% value added tax per ltr of fuel. so 2.20 + (20% of 6.35) 1.90 = $4.10 in taxes on $6.35 gallon. Are my numbers accurate? look into it and let me know. I could be wrong.
