Happens a couple of times every frickin' year, and every time it does, I get so angry at the ignorance and disinterest the handler involved has shown the partner who has saved their skin more than once...I truly believe that any handler who does this to the K9 assigned to them should lose their job, period. I have no sympathy for them, because it doesn't take a genius IQ to know that you don't leave a dog locked inside a car, windows 'cracked' or not, if the temps are above 70 degrees F, especially someplace like Alabama where the temps shoot up rocket-fast.

Just had a case making the new here about a woman that went for a run a left her yorkie locked in the jeep... police where call, broke the dog free, and fined the owner for about 500 euros i think...
Don't have ever ear about a service dog that it happen omg...
And nothing happens to the officer? wow thought it just just a portuguese problem... if you know the right person or work in the right place you can go inpune with just about anything...

They are a leetle bit more inclined to sanction the Officer involved if this is
allowed to happen to a UK Police Dog (and it does happen; not all that often,
but still TOO often !). But the line is generally: how distraught the cop is, how
he [usually is 'he', I never heard yet of a female Dog Handler who left their
partner(s) - many have 2 dogs, I GSD + I sniffer spaniel or whatever - to roast]
is SO cut up and feeling guilty... one cop who did this even tried to commit
suicide because of it.
I am sure they genuinely are; but that isn't an excuse for doing it ...
