I really like the idea of this breeder and i do plan to contact them at some point in the near future. Their site says they breed from Czech and DDR lines which attracts me and their dogs are stunning to look at.

Am just confused by their price range £850 for puppies at six weeks and £1000 at eight weeks. What would be the difference between a six week old puppy and a eight week old?

I live in the UK and the average price for GSD puppies seem to be £450 - £550. So buying puppy for £850, that will go up to £1000 by two weeks difference seems to be a high price to pay.

Could the pups being of Czech and DDR lines change the price range like this or is there other factors?

Stay away they know nothing about Dogs, just jumped on the band wagon, making plenty of money from people that fall for sales patter!

Interesting...I don't find that high at all.  Most of my dogs have been in the 2800 USD range or more.  It could have something to do with the parents, titling, and the longer a pup is kept, perhaps they will be offering some training, etc., or perhaps they offer testing for DM and other things which other breeders may overlook.  Take a look at the parents and see the titles they have, etc., perhaps that could be the reason.  Good luck in your search!

I would not even consider getting a puppy at that early age, 6 wks. The price increase would make me turn and leave very fast.

VomHKINC. unless the puppy is pooping golden nuggets I am not paying that much for an 8 week old puppy... $1800 from American breeding for a puppy is about right with shipping included. I put too much work and training into them to learn in a year I purchased a 2800 dollar dud! I can't even resell the dog for that much if it does not have decent working drives and ethics. I would place it for $1000 and start all over. Yah, I don;t think so... $1800 with shipping from titled parents I can see work is about right. I will take $800 loss over 2K loss. I like to keep my dogs for forever but if the dog is simply not showing me anything I rather find it a forever home with a family that needs a nice pet. I had to do it twice and it gets expensive....
Up to $1600 for Czech import puppy is reasonable (I have friends who can check out the litter for me)... I don't do show-line so no comment there.

I agree; I wouldn't buy a pup from a breeder who sells his/hers at 6 weeks nor would I pay $2,800.00 for one.

GSDPACK, no, me neither, 6 weeks?  When I was a baby...many yeas ago LOL, my uncle used to breed GSD but it was to supplement his cop income...so hum..I'm 50 now, I remember him doing it and feeding pups when I was 4, so 46 years ago.  I remember that he would get a few hundred dollars, but that was 46 years ago.  I don't think the economy righ tnow calls for dogs priced that high...golden poop LOL...I've been offered titled and trained dogs for 3000-4000 USD from CZR, but I have two and I spend more on food and vet so its not in my league either.  I don't know much about show lines or their cost, but my friend breeds show lines and gets 1200 a puppy out in long island nassau county ny. they are coated.  Nice dogs, never has problems.  I paid 2800 usd for my female shes out of cz republic...perhaps overpaid a little, but she turned out to be a nice dog.  I remember quibbling when I bought her, but I'm glad I did...my male, the same.  None are from here though, so I don't know. I am even tossed around and around as I will be breeding my female on or near Thanksgiving, and I'm tossed as to what price to ask for them.  I really don't know.  I want them in good homes, and I feel that if they are not close to presold, I won't breed her...there are enough dogs in the mount vernon ny shelter and new rochelle and when I donate food and blankets I get sick and have to leave.  I'm lost now with regard to that.  6 weeks is a little young to take from their mom's too...I don't like it.
I sold a female to man in texas and he bred her and all the pups went to law enforcement mostly, 2800 each.  Can't say though...I know for my female that I plan on breeding, the sire who I am using in out of Vom Ron GSD in North Carolina, so I need to drive her there to breed...she owns Charik now and has bred him a number of times with beautiful puppies, and they were priced at 1300 to 1800 so you are prob. right, and Charik is very titled.

I Know of Charik, he is a nice dog, he was well used in Czech by very knowledgeable breeders. He is a nice stud for the right female.

I just can't make myself pay so much for a puppy, I have been around GSD since I was a kid and most of our family dogs came from good breeding but not papered (back in a day only 4 puppies could get papers from breeding) But they all were excellent dogs.

However, busting my but with raising dogs all the time and knowing how disappointed it can be when something does not work out is simply something that gave me a line in paying for a puppy. I myself cant charge that much for a puppy and I would not pay that much either. I charge the same amount I myself am willing to pay. Cheaper for pet contract.

Everybody's personal preference and if you are happy, that is all that matters!

Yes, Charik is a nice boy. I own a son of his who will be 3 November 2nd this year. I am thrilled to death with him, he's been the best dog I've ever owned.  He was a handful when I got him, as he was already trained and I got him at 9 months...but I would not trade him for the world.  He's my best friend, usually with me 24/7.  I have not met Charik yet in person, but I will in November that is, IF I decide to breed Carol.  I feel like I am going to meet a celebrity LOL.  Carol is a nice female, I did a test breeding and the pedigree looks good...I ran it by Pavel at bocabohemia and asked him his opinion first, and also asked Joan, owner of Von Rom, and Pavel felt Charik was an ideal stud for Carol.  I was supposed to ship her off for her ZVV1 but now I can't...so that will have to wait.  IF I do this, this will be Carol's first litter, and I'm honestly scared to death that something will go wrong.  She's healthy, I've done her OFA stuff, thyroid is good, DM negative, MDR1 negative, and the hips are good...again, just worried...she's still a baby to me.  I remember bringing her home, she was 4 months.  I had lost a prior female who is listed here on the PDB, Laurel z Old Farm, she never saw her 3rd birthday...Carol I purchased to replace her...at first it was not easy...bonding...It took time.  I was really angry as laurel had microcardia and DM.  We really still miss her.  Life goes on, but still with the pangs of losing her.  It will be her 4th birthday on July 5th, so we will have a little celebration for her, hopefully she will be there in spirit.  She was a great girl...her loss was very substantial.

Hi Browser

If you  like Czech/DDR GSD there are several knowledgeable breeders in UK who have had them for years, none of them charge those sort of prices.

Since you want to get into breeding in your other thread, you might take note of the fact that Sussexwolves claim not to sell to breeders and endorse paperwork accordingly so probably not what you are looking for.
