Disclaimer for those who don't know me: I in no way support the breeding of extreme or unsound dogs, physically or mentally. Believe me, I shudder sometimes when flipping through the ads, but I bite my tongue and go on my merry way. Yes, we all know there are awful GSDs out there- so go do something with yours, which I'm sure are all fantastic, and do something about repairing the breed.

I just wonder how many of those trash other's dogs while enjoying the anonymity of the internet will man up to this challenge.

Here's the game, post a pic of YOUR dog, stacked, then critique it. You have to list at least 3 NEGATIVES about your dog, structurally. Since no one knows any of these dogs in the ad section personally when ripping them apart, this too will be based on appearance and structure only. Extra points if it's a dog you bred yourself, and link the pedigree if possible. I'll go first.

Medium large, medium strong bitch. Very expressive, strong head, good bone, firm back, correct going, stretched. Harmonious movement but could have more rear propulsion(you'll have to take my word for it). Well angled but short croup. Good front angulation but the upper arm could be longer, elbows could be firmer. Somewhat low wither, good color but could have better pigment (mask, saddle, eye).  I'm sure at some point I'll be told she lacks rear angulation, but I like her just the way she is in the back. Her topline is straight and her underline is ok.

Your turn.

edit: ok, I know the title of the thread is kinda bitchy, but maybe we can turn the negativity on this board to something others can learn from. Novel, huh.

Hi Kelly,
I like her like she is. The only fault that I can see is the picture. The way the sun is hitting is making her look lighter than she is, and it makes the eyes appear lighter also.   She has enough rear angulation. You do not want FLIPPER! She has beautiful bone, a GREAT head and mask! She looks AOK to me! I am not a breeder, but EVERY DOG has a FAULT somewhere!

I have a the pup, but do not how to load pics on this! I think that i failed at this game, but she is a nice looking dog!

Yes, it was a late in the day shot which makes a photo contrasty. If you want to email me a pic, I will post it for you. I'd love to see what your girl looks like, anyway!

Three year old male.  Black/tan correct pigmentation.  Strong and masculine.  Height 64 cm  Proportions 8.6 - 10.  Entire and correct dentition.  Coat long with undercoat.

Typical alert expression, correct head for sex, matching eyes, firm ears, good muzzle, correct neck.
Well developed forechest, well laid shoulder, slightly oblique upper arm.  Strong oval foreleg bone, correct spring of pastern, feet could be firmer, dark nails
Firm back, correct slope of wither, correct loin and ribbing, clean underline with slight tuck up
Correct length of croup, but slightly steep, broad thigh, well turned stifle, medium hock, correct hind angulation, correct tail with clean tail set.

Classification Very Good (would have been Excellent but for incorrect coat)

I am not good at critiquing but I will point out the negative things I see about my boy.  His shoulder is too straight, I would like a little more angulation in his rear and I'd like to see a little more tuck up.  Things I do like are his topline, nice big head and masculine looking, nice earset.  His coloring is nice and rich but he does have signs of fading pigment in his mouth.  Eyes could be darker.

OK, I'll play, though I'm not a breeder nor any sort of expert in conformation.  But I know what I like and what I don't like.

Male, 13 months old in the picture.  Just a note - he topline looks slightly broken here, due to being stacked on a downward slope, slightly posted, and slightly overstretched.  Below is a stack I setup myself, not at a show but I like how he is stacked in my pic.  However this first photograph he is a little older, and it's a better photograph.

Head shot - excuse the missing hair on the ears, that's being treated.

What I like - I LOVE my dog's color and pigmentation.  He is very rich red (the headshot pic which was not shot in bright sunlight reflects this).  Also he has a lot of black coverage on his face, and the black in his saddle is solid, no "bitch stripe" to him.  He actually looked more like a blanket until he was about 10 months old.  I love his size.  I know many WG show line dogs that are already larger/taller than him and younger.  I like s-l-o-w growth and filling out and would prefer a dog on the smaller side than larger.  I like that he is not that extreme in any way.  No extreme angulation, roach, or croup.  When he moves his back stays very firm, I think that is the correct word (it doesn't ripple or move up or down).  He has always moved quite tight/dry and beat Am Line puppies in UKC and AKC conformation because of this (they were all very loose).  He is not cow hocked.

What could be improved - I'd like a better front/shoulder.  This is a critique I have of many dogs in all lines of GSDs these days.  His underjaw sometimes appears weak.  I prefer a more substantial head.  His head has not quite grown into his ears and they are set a tad wide for my taste (I prefer smaller, pointy ears that stand parallel).

Feel free to critique my stack!  I have to show him four times this coming weekend...

Time to girl up!!!!!

Good for you, nice honest post.

I love all my dogs that I have bred, and can not critique any of them, cause in my eyes they are all perfect!
I leave the critiquing up to the professional's, if I'm at a dog show, I will ask the judge to critique my dog or pup.

I know, sounds unprofessional, but I truly love all my dogs, even though I strive for good structure and temperament, if you don't like a puppy or dog you got from me, please, return that puppy or dog to me for a full refund, I onlly want my dogs to be happy!

I am very satisfied with what I have produced!!!!!

My dogs ARE the best, and I really don't care if anyone thinks otherwise.

Still nice post!

Very challenging!

Xena our Czech/WGR female.. She has a very nice head, good expression, nice dark eye, good bone, nice conformation, nice rich color, good shoulder and nice topline. I love her drives and workability.
The 3 things I would like to change are....she is a little long in the body, I would like to see a little smaller ear and a little shorter neck.

I'd like a little darker pigment, I think her tail is too long, her ears may end up being too big but she might yet grow into them, we'll see.  Her back is not smooth and I think she is slab sided but she may widen out yet.  Her muzzle could be a little heavier and her throat is not "clean" but appears "baggy" to me.  I like her feet, her eyes, chest and markings.  I like her temperament, she tests me from time to time but she is solid and a hard bitch.  I don't care for her pedigree but it is what it is. Despite it she seems to be a pretty nice bitch.  She has fantastic reach and power in her movement.   Deb

Aiko is a German showline male. Nice head, good ear set, nice dark eye, good expression, nice topline. He is a happy working dog and has good balanced drives. His obedience is very flashy and happy and he is very serious in his bite work. His tracking is nice too.

The 3 things I would like to change....better bone, he is a little cow hocked in the rear, shoulder is a little to straight.
