Hello,

I am new to this forum and have just registered my dog (puppy) and was hoping for some feedback.

I would like to know ANYTHING about any of the dogs in my pups pedigree.

I have been raised with Shepherds, but only as family companions. Stark is my first 'working' dog as we have started to train in OB, Tracking and Therapy (beginning stages as he is only 4 months old).

I appreciate your help, I am looking to learn.. I have thick skin so please be honest when repsonding!

Thanks everyone!

you mixed a showline with a working line and call it a working line. Why don't you show the dog instead of categorizing it as a working dog? (since you are thick skinned ;-D)

I didn't do anything.. this was a dog I purchased.. I am not a breeder of any sorts.

I am looking for information on the dogs in my pups pedigree.

Just want to clarify incase people think I am/was the breeder. I am not.

Thanks.

Oh, and just to add.. when I say "working dog" I mean a dog that does something other than be a companion.

We are going to be doing Tracking, OB and Therapy this is what I mean by "working" not a working lined dog.

Can you elaborate as to why crossing a showlined dog with a working lined dog is bad or undesirable?

Like I said, I am here to learn more.

I would like to add another (or a few) Shepherd to my home in a few years time and would like to do other things so I would like to learn as much as I can.

I truely love learning about the breed.

Thanks. :)

Your pup is truly handsome, he is related to my dogs through the Greyc Vom Felsenschlob dog & Lump Vom Gleisdreieck
Nice East German lines to have, I am very happy with the temperaments of my dogs and so are many other people, my favorite in my household is Theo Von Ryan, we are into sheep herding at this time, he has his herding instinct certificate, and at the end of September we are going to try & earn a PT, Pre-Trial herding title, I am learning new things everyday about each one of my dogs & what they could be the greatest at, Theo has me addicted to sheep herding as much as he is, if you take the time to set certain goals for a training program & stick to it your dog will amaze you with all it can learn, baby steps are important in the beginning  so you are not setting you & your dog up for failure..........

I recently began training Theo's half sister Sam, she has her Companion Dog title, and I had not done any formal training with Sam for at least 2 years, and when I went to training with her on Monday, she did the out of sight sits & downs perfect, she is training for her CDX, she is very easy & fun to train, she doesn't forget what she learns, it's just up to me to do the work,

Every German Shepherd Dog should be able to do any job it is trained to do, and look good doing it!

Have fun with your pup and aim high!

Sorry, don't know anything about any of those dogs, but it will be very interesting to see how your new pup progresses and grows. Some people are breeding working and show to try to improve both sides. Keep us posted and congratulations on your new pup! Theresa

Vikram,

Who pissed in your Post Toasties?  We have a newbie asking for info and all you can do is taunt her?  If you don't have anything positive to say then say nothing.

Is there anyone here that can provide some info on the dogs in the pedigree?

Elizabeth,

I for one don't know them so all I can go by is what is shown and there appears to be more than a few decent dogs listed.  Good luck with your pup.  He's a cutie.

Looks like you got some some good blood there. Others can be good also but they never worked the dog.

If hips and elbows look good work, work, work the dog!

I wish you the best. Good luck.
