action shot's of your GSD - Page 1

I'm looking to buy a new camera, one that will get those cool sharp action shot's, like right before the teeth go into the sleeve, or the mid air shot,,, know what I mean!  Maybe some of you could post some pictures and add what kind of camera you used.  or maybe just the names of a few good camera's i could check out.  thanks in advance, besides, it would be nice to see some shots of your dogs...

You are going to need a very good lens indeed to get what you want with close ups of teeth going into the Sleeve or just before

Please tell me how one is going to get these photos,

Over here you are not allowed on the Field during work. meaning in protection you cannot stroll about different places with a camera taking close up shots.

the Pakweker or the people running it would not allow it or would the person handling the Dog allow it

And it would not be allowed in obedinance as well. If you are standing on the ourside permiter of the field is is not likely one would get such close shots that you want, because of the angle you would need to be withthe camera

If this is allowed in the USA then something is badly amiss with the system. and it is not a safe practise

I wouldnt be without My canon 400d - I cant seem to load my photos on here, but not only have I got some great dog shots but other animal ones as well.

No bitework - but a brother and sister having some fun. - One of those quirky shorts that captured the fun they were having

Stop picking hairs. When the poster said he wanted to see the teeth odf the Dog just going into the sleeve if you are on the outside of the field and at a distance away it is not likely you will get the shots he says he wants

mid air Yes, but not going into the Sleeve and for that you do not need to be far away to get these shots right, But the most important thing is the angle in which you can stand at so if a Dog has his back to you on the field you will not get the shot you want plus if he is 30m away you will still have a problem unless you are fairly close i mean meters not 30 m plus its all to do with the field and at our fields we cannot get the angle we want to take such a shot of the teeth before it hits the Sleeve

I have tried here some 200 times and not got the shots i want .

Only by going onto the field to get a better angle will i get them and that is Not allowed. but then as always its different over in the USA

and before someone comments on my last remark it is a true remark, thought by tens of thousands the other side of the water to you folk

I have a Nikon D80. I get some really good shots, but a good lens really helps with that. I can stand on the sideline and take some truly amazing pictures, with my current lens.

A good lens is a must.  We have an Olympus E 500 and while I do get some decent shots, I long for a larger lens!  At least with this camera I do have the ability to zoom into the photos in photoshop because of the quality of the image. 

On Sunday if the weather is good i will try and take a few of Fred on Protection, But to get the Shots the Poster wants to see i am not sure i can only stand at the Front where the Hide and Packwerker is or one end of the field and that is too far away from the action

The far side and other ends of the Fields cannot be got at and even then you are outside the field but we will see.

I do not think my Lens is good enough and i only have a Nikon D40 Dx camera, later on i want to get a video recorder to take Fred working the whole Schutzhund programe for ScHh1

I shoot with a Cannon Eos Digital SLR with a 75-300mm IS Lens (Image Stabilizer- allow's you to shoot with a long lens without a tripod).  I get great up close shots without disturbing training, or from the sidelines at trials.  The lower SLR models take great pictures, are pretty user friendly with automatic functions and now pretty affordable ($700-$1000).  The Lens is about $500-$700 but well worth the investment.
