Mark was by Fedor v Arminius. Himself a VA and good for character. Mark had a top brother called Moritz and another called Maxamillion. Another called Mec came to the UK. There was trouble over Mec, I think hips were involved, but I stand to be corrected. Mark went VA in 1988 and again in 89. He was out of one of the Q litter Arminius females, ( Quana)?? She was sister of Quando and Quinna ( I think). Bred in the purple so to speak. He was the father of Nickor v Holledau and Sieger Kimon. However I have heard VERY strong rumours that Mark was not the father of Kimon....?? Who knows?

Mark was bred by Dr Beck who was Breed Warden for many years and he always judged Adult females at the Sieger opposite Herman Martin of the Arminius kennels, who was President at the time.

Mark was correct medium size from memory, good front, overline and hindquarters. He was a good mover. He seemed to produce good working drive, but I dont know enough about that to offer constructive comments. His brother produced Lork and Lana Haus Beck, another good duo although pigment could have been better. Hope that helps.

I have had a lot of nice show dogs that worked very well that were either own sons/daughters of Mark, or linebred on Mark. Ditto for Jeck, but Jeck progeny could go either way as far as working ability. I still like to see those lines, and really like to see Cello Romerau, in show dogs today.

It is incredible to see how many of our dogs came from Mark somewhere along the line. He helped produce many top dogs also.

He is the grandfather to VA4 Beaury van de Huis Kirura then Beaury and VA Odin vom Hershel produced VA1 Bax von der Luisentrasse then Bax and VA1 Karma vom Ochsentor produce VA1 Pakros. What an influence! Of course it's not all him but part of his gene pool.( I think all is correct)

I'M sure that the previous can all be expanded upon as well.

PJP.  thank you kindly for your complimentary commentary of my girl Gipsi. We are extremely proud of her and her accomplishments. It is nice to see that others observe in her what we think makes her so special.

jdh,

I really like Irok! What a stud! I love that masculine head. Baru seemed to pass that on. I just did a breeding to another Baru son, (fingers crossed, don't know yet), it is a 5,5-5 on Mark. Far back, I know, but we'll see what happens...

I wonder why his line produces Big to Large dogs.??? Being a medium dog  he is..???. almost all VA-lines carry his name...  I've read here in PDB from German breeders... " You need the Mark H.Beck  bloodline to add glamour to your line..."  I was wondering if is about the working temperament potential or if it is for the size (since most VA dogs are large... and you need to do well on your bitework in the BSZS...)

The Mark H.Beck line do well if you combine it with any other line... (he is from the Canto W. line...)  Having too  much of his blood... beware of HD for too Large pups... Long coats (Alf Waldoft Ernst - the heavy-boned guy acc. to GSD history)... I noticed also CURLY TAILS...

Now to think of it...since Dr. Beck and the Martins were doing their research on Wurtemberg and Thuringian lines... and if curly tails assure you of a strongly errect ear...  Thuringian-type being medium in size... (like that of Huskies and Spitz) Mark H.Beck could be the ultimate Thuringian-type.

I've read in Linda Shaw's website... about Tail carriage and the curly tail which is very common on dominant and aggressive dogs... It maybe true thats why Mark H.Beck (or was it Fedor Arminius who had a temperament problem.) could be the guy to improve on drive if you dog has too many linebreedings from the Q-litter Arminius...

Just my two cents...

Luke von der Amahaus  lives in Texas and is out of Cris Forsthaus Hattlich, son of Mark v Haus Beck and owned by a former decoy and helper in Schutzhund....he is described as a dog that works , hard, and then can love on children and sit at your feet or accomplish anything his master asks,,,,very balanced,,,This is not his best pic but all I could load ,,,,,the others wouldnt download..
