Robin, day 22 and 23?? Wow! Most bitches would be completely finished their cycle by then!
I also had a female breed/conceive very late in her heat cycle. I didn't do progesterone testing, just let the male and female tell me when teh timing was right. But from the day I first saw blood it was 24 days before the first tie. And they bred 3 times, day 24, 26, and 28. Whelped a prefectly normal litter of 9 pups. If I remember right, her whelp date was 63 days from one of the later breedings to boot.
I have multiple females, who tend to cycle together, so I haven't paid close attention to how long this females cycles are before, I just know when one is in heat, and we check every day until they are out before they are allowed anywhere near any males I have. Next time though I will be recording how long she cycles, and not just when it starts.

I have an older female who was not breedable until at least day 23 and had 3 litters all bred that late in her cycle and another one that starts on day 16. Guess neither of them have read the breeding manual.
