My Dogs Are All Registered And The Male Is 2 Years Old And OFA Exec. But I Am Concerend About Her IS SHE TO YOUNG. I Read On Leerburg Wed Site On Breeding and there was a few cases of dog but not a lot. on one case a 6 month old doxie got preg and he said the dog was not mentally stable and buy pillls that the female could take to kill sperm. another case a 8 month old roti got preg and he said to watch and learn about whellping. I don't know of any pills that you can give them, but my vet has a mismate shot that can be given within 48 hrs of the tie. It is ECP given IM. I would check with your vet. Not all vets carry it.

Probably, as reflected by your previous posts, the first thing you should do is alter your animals until you are better informed about their care.

Do not get the "abortion Shot" it can lead to pyrometra in your bitch IF you are considering her for a breeding bitch. Your female if in good shape can handle if she gets pregnant. Hopefully she was on the down slide of her heat but I have had a female I start breeding on the 16th day all females differ.
Good luck,
Jill

Spay her

by TessJ10 on 15 September 2010 - 19:09

Generally speaking at 12mo and if healthy otherwise she is not too young to successfully have and raise a litter.

Unfortunately you have now learned that fences don't mean safety.

Yes, there is a shot that can prevent a litter being born but it must be given quickly and you must discuss with your veterinarian any potential side effects.

Good luck.

Two Moons

Your bitch can handle it......... your lucky if the male was not injured on the fence...... The shots are dangerous and any good vet would not use them. Your 18 days is way off the mark.... you should have better knowledge of breeding. You may luck out and it not take....... I have had accidents before.....always my fault. If you end up with a litter find them good homes or kill them, do not leave them off at a shelter....... you have a responsibility to your animals. Don't forget that ever.. Good luck. Moons.

This is very unfortunate but not the end-all be-all. I had an opps litter a year and half ago. You talk with your Vet asap. Two options to consider since I was told that the miscarriage shot is no longer being manufactured due to harmeful effects.
1. Do an immediate spay of her. (I did not choose this option)
2. Wait and see. One tie on day 18 is not a guarantee. Best case is that she is not pregnant and you just learned a valuable lesson. You might have even missed a couple of days of the heat cycle.
Worse case is if she is pregnant then give her and the puppies the best care available. Beware that if there are complications at birthing that may require a c-section which could be $$$.
Bottom line talk with your Vet and do what is right for the dog.

PLEASE DO NOT USE THE SHOT!
It killed my dog!  Two Moons is right!
Please do your research before using the shot!
Biggest mistake I ever made!
