"How about the poor dogs living in crates? Do you want to save them? I do. I'd MUCH rather see a dog on an appropriate tether than living in a shipping crate."

Yeah, well, we've had that conversation so you know I don't agree and here's a perfect example of why:

"Well that is still funny ya all are talking about that shit."

You do realize YOU resurrected a three and a half month old thread, right?

Yeah. So?  Beats the heck out of "she stole my dog" rehash...   :  )

And Keith, if I had the time I'd post about a hundred "crated dog dies in house fire" posts! : )

And I'm glad you don't have the time because I'm sure those stories are considered a lot more newsworthy than "chained dog hangs himself" stories, ergo, a lot easier to find.

We'll agree to disagree and move on.

Would she not stay for you?  Or come if you called?    Does she not listen to you?  Are these not the basics of dog training?  I am not a breeder or dog trainer but it is worrisome that you have no control over your dog.   Just a basic pet owner and I can at least instill that in our dogs.   I hope for your neighbors sake she does not slip you one day.  I really am not trying to be rude.  If I am misunderstanding something please let me know.

Um good point Rookabadooka... I have a little pack of shepherds, NO they will not run away or jump my front 3 foot gate and leave, but when I am gone - you better bet they have there own minds and may decide to catch that feral cat that keeps teasing them- so I keep them safe in there kennels, in the house, or on a long cord should I leave. ( funny I have a house cat they leave alone, its the feral cats that drive them batty).

When I am home , not one of my dogs will leave the yard even with the gate open- unless I am walking out - then they think its time to go bye bye.

NO one can have CONTROL over there dog when they are NOT RIGHT THERE to stop it from doing A. B. C. .. they do have brains.

Kimmelot I agree about dog behavior in the absence of it's owner.  But if you read the thread the gentleman stated that he had to "chain the dog for the picture because a.) It would "...bite his fiancee" and he likes that kind of aggresson. b.) It would run away.  Both these instances are when the dog is in his presence.  So he is "right there," and should be able to stop his dog from doing a.b.c..

I have a great idea since kids have brains and we can't watch them at all time lets chain them in the backyard.
