Edited by Moderator Wagging to remove the Kennel name.  No kennel or pedigree was mentioned by the OP.

There is nothing wrong with loving your dog and nobody knows better than you what you would like in your next dog.

Unfortunately, at 14 it is too late to test hips and almost surely too late to breed.  You may not realize but Wolf is like an 85 year old person or older.  But Dr Belfield years ago had success breeding older dogs after giving them Vitamin E.  You have already started this, so maybe you'll get lucky.

I happen to think longevity is a very good reason to breed.  If everyone only bred dogs who were going to live to 14, we'd all be better off, but naturally that is very hard to predict.  If you had only thought when he was a "young" 9 year old that he had some great long-lived genes, you may have gotten lucky.   But now...

You  seem to know the parents, do you know the breeder?  Why not go back to the same bloodlines if Wolf was the kind of dog you loved?  He has interesting color genetics, frankly, if he is a white from two black and tans.

Finally, if you tell us what you loved most about Wolf, the more considerate people on this Forum might be able to tell you where to find a puppy a lot like him.

The white dogs in that pedigree are immensely impressive, but it can't be the pedigree of this male.  She said both parents were b/t.

"THE WHITE SHEPHERDS DO HAVE A LOT OF AKC TITLES "

No, pretty much the only AKC "titles" are the CGC, which isn't quite the same.  The other titles are not AKC, but UKC.  Big difference.

Yellowrose, I don't know what I'm saying, but check this out, too...

What is the complete story? There has to be one. MVF, you are good with statistics, what are the odds of another dog that can satisfy 99% of the details provided by Heidiho?

A nd the sire and dam  of  purebred  Wolf,  the white   GSD, supposedly begot of  B/T parents, seems to have a big GOOF. Only because when you click on a pedigree I have provided, it shows something else.

Which would make sense if I am wrong.... but am I wrong?

If you want it bad enough, you can go the AI route and using a centrifuge and some additional technology you can improve the chances of success.
Not sure what the KC will say about issuing papers on a litter sired by such an older dog.

by Wagging on 29 January 2011 - 00:01

The OP asked if it was possible to increase sperm count in an older male.  Please stay on topic.

Why would you guys ask that she get a 14 year old dogs hips checked??  Heck, he made it to 14 and can still go through the motions, isn't that hip check enough?   Seriously.

Sorry, don't know anything about sperm, Molly gave good advice, I just can't believe some people.
