I just love a happy ending to a dog story

I'm such a SAP! I got all teary eyed reading this update :-) So glad the old man will live out his last couple years happy. So many people don't want to "take on" the responsiblities of a geriatric dog....Ahhhh this made my day....Stacy

Very cool resolution for this good old boy. I too hope the new owner takes him out for a bite now and then. gives the good old dogs a reason to live on. ;-)

One of my club members posted this today on the USA board, I thought many others would appreciate it as well since this story was posted here:  By the way she lives over 2 hours north of us one way!

Cindy, the woman who rescued Eddy, brought him to our club
yesterday. She is not a Schutzhund person, but she cares so much
about Eddy that she is making the effort to give him the job he was
born and trained for. And Eddy was born and trained for Schutzhund.

Eddy is 10 1/2 and out of shape, but he still knows his job and
still wants to do it. We didn't ask much of him, but he showed us a
calm, clear dog with plenty of drive and excellent training at some
point, both obedience and protection. He is a real working dog who
probably hasn't worked in years.

Cindy intends to work Eddy in obedience at home and bring him out to
the club for both OB and protection when she can. Maybe we can get
her into tracking. Eddy is lucky that Cindy found him.

WOW! Definitely way cool that she's giving an old working dog a chance to work. When they get too old to do obedience and protection regularly, they seem to focus all their ttention on tracking, which is why so many of our FH Champions are senior dogs. You don't need reg. papers to participate in trials, just a scorebook. Wouldn't it be neat to see this old boy on the cover of USA someday?

Just dreaming, I know, but then again... Loud applause here for a happy story.

:)))) SS
