Debi, If I might comment on your question "WHY is a dogs supposed poor perfromance everyone elses shame?"

The shame is more so at UScA than the dogs. I have said all along that we cannot blame the dogs, but we can blame the judging and that officials at the show who did not see the need to enforce the sieger show rules as they are written. So, yes there is shame, and there is embarrassment, for the membership of UScA.

As a newbie to the breed-3 years now.....I have been confused at the bitework at the shows.  I couldnt' understand why one dog would get pronounced  for not outing or rebiting etc. and another would get insufficient.   I wanted to thank Ravi for posting the videos...........those were great.   Maybe this will help make the changes neccessary to the breed.  It seemed to me (as I said I'm a newbie) that is was mostly training or lack of.  I did see one dog that definately would rather be somewhere else than on that field-but that didn't mean he's a horrible dog, maybe just not cut out for schutzhund.  I think some dogs are pressured to be on the field-just like with kids....we tend to force them to play sports even if they don't have it in them.  I see that in some of these dogs.   Maybe they'd do well at herding or agility.  I think if people took the dogs not cut out for schutzhund off the field it wouldn't be so bad.  Plus like someone else stated, they aren't really trained all the time for it-just prepped for the Seiger Shows.

I am still trying to understand the ins and outs of this gsd world-most doesn't always make sense.  I do agree on the American bred tho-like the title states, "AMerican Bred"....if they put what it means in the rules you won't have to have two different ones like am bred and am born.  American bred is American bred.  What is the point of usiing our own dogs here in the US if you don't get a chance at that title.  (not saying thats the only reason one would use our dogs here)  But it would be something to be proud of.....and a goal to reach for all American breeders-use our dogs-look at the V's for your breeding program-a lot of them looked great-sound nerves etc.  Not saying that the VA's are bad, just saying there are a lot of good dogs out there being overlooked due to titles etc.

Easy solution:  sponsor a trophy with YOU setting up the criteria AND supplying the trophy, as I did for one Sieger Show (but, never again!!).   I 've done it for other shows and/or trials, too.  Kept the trophy, when no dog was eligible.

The AKC requires that dogs entered in the Am bred class must be whelped in the US as a  result of a mating that took place in the US.

I am have seriously considered sponsoring a trophy for the "Highest Placing Gray Working Dog That Failed to Out in the AProtection Test". Make that a perpetual trophy about 5' tall  with tacky little colored lights, so big it costs $60+ for excess baggage to take it home for a year.

Who says I don't have a sense of humor?

You have already honored me beyond my expectations by taking my name in the same breath as Karen Sinclair & Heidi Theis.

I hvae met both of those ladies and if the gods so choose it would be an honor to be bested by them. As for all the rest I am just the new kid on the block who blurted out that "The Emperor has no clothes".

Good one, Ravi!

It was my pleasure to meet you and observe you and your very cool, beautifully trained and handled dog. If it had been a trial, and I the judge, I would likely have awarded you 100 pts, perfect score last Saturday. Keep up the super work and best of luck in the coming months.

Hello there Dogmoma,

shouldn't I be defensive when I get blamed for being part of the problem with the dogs' performances? The reason I mentioned a certain CT breeder is because I checked Chuckie's previous contributions to the board here, which were nothing to write home about, to say the least.  She made better ones under her other aliases! And I beg to differ: I did not mention anybody by name, you did! And you should not, because you will only end up getting this great informative thread deleted, just like the ones before in which you had to mention that particular name. You know by now that the moderator is paying attention to that. So please! Get back on topic!

Chris, how sad it is that you try to hijack this thread with your personal agenda. The SS show performance test and all that the dog world has seen from these videos is embarrassing to say the least. You attacked members (Hodie) because they told it like it is. Sorry if it offended your placements in Germany. IT WASN'T ABOUT YOU. It was about the pathetic judging at the 2008 SS.

You then go on to try to attack someone and call them numerous names most of which are established individuals on numberous other forums. I think you are the fear biter and dillusional. DO YOUR HOMEWORK. These are established individuals on many other dog forums and SHAME ON THEM FOR COMMENTING IF IT DOES NOT AGREE WITH YOU. You would like to believe that anyone that disagrees with you is ONE person under numerous identities. Maybe "numerous' others just don't agree with YOU.

I am a middle aged, chunky black man and will forgive your comments about your "black working line bitch" because I don't want to take this to a ethnic level. Many others commented on the same topics that you attack me about.

You can check anything you like and draw any conclusion. I am NOT impressed with you either. I looked at your history on this board also and you consistently try to dominate opinion or bash others, or you offer information provided by others more knowledgeable than you. as your experience.

You are late to notice that this post has offered informative facts and opinions until your attempt to hijack it and it has stayed on topic until you piped in. You are a pathetic pissant that is not needed here.

thank you Dogmom for the reminder that DM is soon going to Court. Please let all of us know the outcome.
