SitasMom, honestly have you ever worked in a factory or in the environmental field? Are you opposed to every one of the agencies you have listed here? In an ideal world we wouldn't need to have agencies regulating pollution, worker and neighborhood safety, illegal drugs, etc. However this is not an ideal world and money is king. Industry will not police itself at the expense of a smaller bottom line.
Are you familar with the "Right to Know" act and how that protects your family and your neightbors? Do you think Erin Brockovitch (sp?) is a fictional character or a federal spy? What about the current horror of all the cancer in men and their families who lived at Lejune and drank water contaminated with the very same chlorinated solvents that are commonly used in industry as degreasing agents? Millions of workers in this country are exposed to carcinogens in the work place every day and those employers who do provide PPE only do so because OSHA says they must.
Ironically the politicos who are so against "big" government regulations have probably never worked in the trenches at a chrome plating factory, a hazardous waste facility, an incnerator, or any other industy where hazardous materials are commonly used. Neither have their disciples.

It is sad to think monsters like that exist in our society, but, sadly, they do.
