Hi all, I'm sure this is a longshot but any little bit and ideas can help! Last year I finished my Associate's degree at the community college, and I have now applied as a transfer student to UC Merced to complete my Bachelor's degree in business management. Since I have 4 GSDs, there is absolutely no way I am leaving them behind and I have found housing that allows me to bring all of my dogs, however the deposit is pretty steep. I am working full time, doing all the odd jobs I can, selling off anything I don't need or want anymore that's not nailed down, and trying to find ways to raise funds for my move, to help offset the costs. I have started a Chip In account if there is anybody who would like to help. I am also looking for any ideas for fundraisers I could do (in my free time, lol!) Thank you so much! http://lindsaymoveout.chipin.com/college-and-moving-fund

LOL, Yeah, people want fundraisers for themselves, that's a popular subject here, of late...
Lindsay, you sound really nice. But sorry, IMHO you need to find a better paying job, or a place that you can actually afford. Have you thought about roomies?

Ahh there is nothing wrong with fundraisers or chip-ins. I personally prefer donating to people like this (once vetted) because they ask people for the help and don't go to the government to steal it for them.
Lindsay, you should maybe create a post or a comment on your chip-in page so that people can varify and vet you - it would be a good idea to have a few references also for donors to contact.
I do chip-ins all the time for my Ron Paul friends to get them places they couldn't otherwise go. Each and everyone of them when they create a chip-in and asking for donations they post a detailed BIO, references and contact info. One of our senior camp members or a Mod does all the vetting then announces wether ligit or a scam. The that person must sign the Roll Call at each event proving they used the funds as intended, if they don't - well ... (lol)
I know when donating - all our private info is transfered to the donation asker, that's where I have the problem donating to non-vetted strangers .. especially on a forum like this where people have evil intentions damn near every day it seems. I prefer the DHS, FBI and CIA rooting names this way vs. some strange wackjob info rooting.
Soo, if you want to go the donation route like in your OP - I would post your BIO, references and details so people can varify your intentions.
I'll check out your Ebay - maybe something I need. (lol) Good idea with the Ebay listings though ... good luck.
JMO.

I'm still recovering myself, so I couldn't chip in if I wanted to. But, I can surely give you some tips on cutting living costs, adding money to your pocket. Cancel cable and buy an antenna, it's amazing how many channels you can pick up for free, how much you DON'T miss cable and... you find out you actually have a life. Get rid of one of your phones. I've been without a cell phone for almost a year and I like not being able to be found at times
Make your own cleaning products, it's not only easy, it's practically free compared to what you pay for prepared products. Though time consuming, you can even make your own soap absolutely free (but for the water)! Save all fat from cooking and light a nice fire in your back yard. With fat and ashes, all you need to add is water and you'll have soap.
And just think, you'll have plenty of time to do this since you don't have cable to watch!

If everyone on earth could just spare a nickle, I'd be so happy......:)
I think this thread is very sad indeed.

Baby Eagle, I understand what you're saying, but not sure what exactly I need to do to set that up for people to verify, etc.
My eBay auctions are listed under shepherdmom12, I had a bunch of items just end, I will be going through more things today and tomorrow now that work is closed for the weekend and getting them listed.
I have held my position as a veterinary technician at the same animal hospital since 2008, it's a good paying job for the field and the area but without a higher education I will be very unlikely to find anything that pays more. During that time I finished and my associate's degree at the community college and have rented my parents' basement to save money and because it's hard to find a rental with 4 dogs. I am in a dead end job and wish to move forward with my life so I will do so.
Thank you to those of you that offer their ideas, I very much appreciate the tips. To the others, the rude comments are unnecessary although I understand that this is a public forum and to expect such.

Another idea for side money, start a petting sitting business. The only real start up money you need is a GPS and gas for your car. Get a good set of references. I understand you work as an assoc. vet; this is a great place for references. -------- Also, for finance, going on the cash flow method is the best way to get out of any debt. The basic premise is that you pay off your smallest debt as fast as you can (go by balanced owed, not interest rate). Once that is paid, take all the money you were putting here to the next smallest debt. You will be amazed how fast you get out of debt. --------- Another thing, throw away all credit cards. If you can't pay cash for something, then you do not really need it. -------- Never ever take cash from the quick loan places. Best to never take a loan from friends or family. --------- Be extreamly grateful for any donations, help you get. Now days, too many people take help with an "I am owed" attitude. This results in a very cynical world. ------ Good luck.
