REGISTRATION AND DOG BREDING - Page 1

GOOD EVENING. I HAVE A 15 MONTH OLD CHOCOLATE MALE LABRADOR. HE IS UP TO DAT WITH HIS RABIES AND I DO HIS 8AND 1 SHOTS MYSELF. I NEED TO SEE HOW DO I REGISTER HIM, BECAUSE I AM INTERESTED IN GETTING INVOLVED WITH BREEDING HIM. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME FOR ME, BUT HE IS A HEALTHY,VIBRANT, YOUNG PUP. I KNOW LABS ARE BECOMING A POPULAR BREED. SO I AM INTERESTED IN USING MINE FOR BREEDING, BUT I NEED TO SEE ABOUT REGISTRATION FIRST. I LIVE IN LOUISIANA SO IF ANYONE CAOULD GIVE ME A HELPING HAND, I WOULD APPRECIATE IT.

If you did not get AKC registration papers with the dog when you bought him, then he cannot be registered. 

Labs are not BECOMING a popular breed.  They already are. 

Unfortunately, you will not be able to register your dog, and please do not consider breeding without papers and without health clearances.

  Simply get PRA, CNM, EIC Tests on your lab have an Eye CERF done, Get either a Conformation Championship (Ch,) or a Field Championship/Amatuer Field Championship (FC or AFC) have an OFA check for hips and elbows along with a Thyroid test and Heart Dopler done.  You will need to contact the breeder of your dog to get the paperwork to register your Lab.
  The before you breed study the lab color genetic chart and make sure you understand about choclates and dudleys, Understand the AKC or UKC breed standard for the Labrador. . Then simply decide how your dog will help improve the breed (or if it won't) and what bitch might be best to compliment him, making sure any Lab you breed to has all of the above genetic tests  health tests and Qualifications. 
  I am sure you love the Lab breed and want tot help improve it, unlike the people that do not care and only want to use their dog to make money.
