yellowrose of Texas

by yellowrose of Texas on 17 May 2012 - 20:05

This is a plant that came up two months ago. Has grow very tall and has shoots(legs) off to all sides..Today a flower ,yellow appeared on top...very green leaves all on white grains(veins) in them and the stalk is whitish...

WHat in the world is this plant...last year , in this bed many kinds of seed were planted...nothing came up...

D0ES ANY ONE RECOGNIZE THIS PLANT...

YELLOW FLOWER IS SMALL AND CLUSTER TO THREE RIGHT NOW.

iT LOOKS LIKE all the feet are gonna have blooms on it too..
I had to prop up the long stalk today with the little yellow flowers ....it fell over when the water hit it..

This is an arm off the main stem which in above post  is 4 foot tall....

I just took this picture and the blooms are closed..it is 88 outside today..

Notice the tiny other blooms that are not open yet..???

 What about Dahlias?

the mix I planted had several flowers but I threw the package away last  May...we had no rain and 110 * days so no flowers no fruit no veggies last year.

I have a daisy plant , planted from roadside seeds and it is up behind that plant...also have weeds galore.

my back is very sore and hurts still so I am not weeding much...

See if the blooms are open in the evening or mornings. It is too hot for them during the middle of day. Still say Evening primrose. Do they smell?

Dahlias are tubers, so no, not from those seeds.

I thought Dahlias were tubers....I see them in bins at walmart...lol

I have no clue...does primrose get 4 foot tall and have arms coming out of bottom of plant on all sides..

  has me puzzled.

My mother is a certified Master Gardener, her plant knowledge is mind boggling.   She's on vacation right now but she'll be back home early next week.  So if no one has identified what this plant is by the time she gets back then I'll show her the pics and see if she knows.
