I have two cats--love them. We live out where there are a lot of farms. Cats are great for catching mice.

LOL, sorry YR, my cat is black and at least 10 yrs old. He never did much bother with mice. And his sister (killed by a car) was a ferocious super killer of birds. That used to bother me because we feed the birds. I can't tell you how many birds I'd saved from her jaws! One time I got her to release a robin, the bird flew off and she was so quick she snatched it again! I really hated it when she would get a goldfinch or other colorful birds. I used to wish she'd go after mice or rats for that matter.
We had a problem a few years back, there was building and burning in the woods and the rats made an appearance in the neighborhood that freaked me out. My old brindle dog actually killed one when my oldest boy was a baby. It was in the kitchen, (it had got in through a chink in the old stone cellar and came up through a hole in the wall for appliance hookups) and he got it as it started to chew a hole in the baby gate to make an escape. One quick bite and it was one dead rat. He gave me such a look after he did it, like he wasn't sure if I'd be happy with a dead rat.
I let him know he was a hero, just like Lady and the Tramp!
