The ONLY German Shepherd to win Best In Show at Westminster

I only saw him once, in Springfield, Massachusetts, at an AKC show in the mid-80s. He was indeed a beautiful dog, but what was most impressive was the crowd reaction. When Moses came into the show area (not yet in the show ring) with Manhattan, the crowd went wild. It was as if Elvis had returned. My ex-wife, not much of a dog lover, was absolutely disgusted that a dog should get such a reception. I mention this because the hush then the roar and the ultimate approbation were palpable to EVERYONE there, dog lovers and the rest, alike. When this dog moved he did take your breath away, although he was a little small for my tastes.

Of course should be mentioned, 1 of the top dogs all-time in all-breed. BIS Westminster, the only GS ever (amazingly) to do so.

I myself was at Old Dominion KC with my dog when "Hatter" was big and he was supposed to be there. A man (can't recall who) who was showing that day was talking about him when Hatter did not show up, saying he didn't come when his hips were bothering him. Just rumor?
