Crumstone Irma "... was awarded the Dicken Medal for gallantry – the dogs' Victoria Cross. She was credited with having found 200 buried casualties, and with having definitely saved 17 lives."
The photo in the gallery: "Irma is indicating the presence of a body by laying back her ears and whining. Mrs. Griffin states that it was an almost certain indication that the find was dead, if Irma laid back her ears. If any life remained, she always tried to dig her way through the debris, and showed considerable animation. In this particular incident a dead body was found under five feet of debris."
Mrs. Griffin, owner of the Crumstone kennel, herself handled Crumstone Irma and Crumstone Storm, as well as young trainee Crumstone Psyche, as SAR dogs during the London Blitz.
Pickett, The Book of the Alsatian Dog, 3rd. ed, 1952, p.160.

This is a dog pedigree, used by breeders and breed enthusiasts to see the ancestry and line-breeding of that individual dog. The pedigree page also contains links to the dogs siblings and progeny (if any exist). For dog owners with purebred dogs this is an excellent resource to study their dog's lineage.
