Royally Bred and Loyally Work - LETTON Alsations, owner: Mrs: H. Beck / Old Letton Court, Hereford

 The Letton Alsation kennel was founded in 1932. Mrs Beck is extremely interested in sheep-work for the Alsation in this country, and has ample scope for this enterprise on her husband's 500 acre farm. Nan the Shepherdess was the first of the Letton Shepherds and is still fit and well at 13 years of age; in her day, an excellent worker of sheep and cattle: a Champion show-winner and obedience trial-winner.

 Maureen of Brittas, a grand young bitch of great substance and perfect temperament, by UK&IR.CH. Gerolf of Brittas out of UK&IR.UK. Ulrica of Brittas, is Mrs Beck's latest sheep-working Alsation. I was very interested and much impressed to see this bitch at work. Fast and keen, she works just as well as the average sheep-dog, and show brains and promise above the average. She bred a fine litter this summer to Karel av Hvitsand, of which more should be heard.

 Topaz of Brittas, a lovely young 12 month old bitch, a good winner in both breed and variety classes, by Biddox Pandoras out of UK&IR.UK. Ulrica of Brittas. It is Hoped to breed from both Maureen and Topaz in 1945.

 The dog puppy Xerxes av Hvitsand, is the latest addition to the kennels; he is by Karel av Hvitsand (UK.CH.Orest of Brittas x Quella of Brittas) out of Artana of Playways (excellent) by Irish Irish Champion Knight Bachelor of Roslin. It is hoped to train Xerxes for sheep work if he shows the ability. Having had some years of experience with working sheepdogs and their training I have seen the futility of tring to train a dog other than from a sheep-working strain.

 Mrs. Beck wishes to pay tribute to Mrs. Barrington for all her kind help and advice. It will be seen that all Letton Alsations carry much of the blood of that outstanding sheep-worker. Voss von Bern H.G.H... Etc
