Even if you donot see another puppy I would still give her the oxytocin to clear out the uterus of debris. You can also give her some calcium just to be sure she is not running low on that, maybe some yogurt & cottage cheese.  Or give  her some bone broth as I would imagine she is exhausted.  Good luck.

Hey.... I will give more detail later tonight because Ive got to get back out there and keep a watch on her
but just wanted to let ya'll know sort of where things are... we did the x-ray and there was another puppy, that makes 8 pups, 4 alive and healthy.... UNBELIEVABLE !!!!
Gave the shot at 12:30am nothing happened, gave another one at 3:00pm nothing.... I just gave her the last of the three at 3:45 and nothing yet... Im hopeful this will kick in later but if not Ive absolutely got to get the pup out NO LATER THAN MONDAY morning is as long as Im waiting, then surgery is on the table for sure, but my vet thinks he wants to try a couple other things 1st which Im all for trying but that pups coming out on Monday one way or the other, Im not risking my Momma dog getting bad sick or dying,, no way.
Ive been awake again now going on 38 hours.. but it is what it is and I have no choice but to deal with it, we will get through this... again I truly do appreciate everyones care and input but if you hear about a guy in Montana that jumped off a bridge youll know why Im not posting any thing else !!!!
Kidding : )

She could be low on calcium - that can inhibit the contractions!! Has the vet considered this?
It's fairly common after whelping - in dairy cattle they call it "Milk Fever"!

Oxytocin should kick in within less than an hour of being given!

My one girl didn t slow down a bit after having her pups. I m not kidding when I say in between pups she was out the door in a flash when she thought she was missing something, everytime the others went out she was on her toes and out the door with them. She was very good about not stepping on any of them. She's had three litters and does same thing every one. She just won t slow down.

Under the circumstances I got the absolutely best news I could’ve possibly hoped for.... so after examining the x-ray yesterday and seeing a remaining puppy still inside my female, The options today were for my veterinary to try to manipulate the dead fetus toward the birth canal and extract the dead puppy without surgery, if that did not work then having a C-section was our only option, but the dead puppy had to come out. Honestly I will tell you that when I went to bed last night, I thought there was an extremely minuscule chance that maybe she will pass the puppy that’s dead inside her during the night, and if she did I had wondered if she would eat the puppy inside the placenta not knowing what it was....which kind of mortified me, but that’s how God designed nature if the puppy is dead, this morning I convinced my veterinary to allow me to go back in the area where they were preparing for surgery and was going to do the exam her... I requested and he thought it was a good idea to do another x-ray before doing anything this morning, I was in there for that part as well, after doing the x-ray as I was looking over his shoulder looking at the screen, my eyes almost popped out of my head ! I did not see anything, it was so so obvious the x-ray we had done the day before you could see that puppy clear as could be... and I said out loud, I don’t see a puppy, he turned around and looked at me said I don’t either ! I said let’s do another x-ray from a different angle, so we laid her on her back and he did an x-ray to where he could see everything, typically I would not want a pregnant female being laid on her back if she had puppies inside her because I’ve heard bad things about that but in this situation it would not matter and it would get a clear view of everything and anything inside her... after thoroughly thoroughly examining that x-ray he said there’s absolutely no puppy inside there, remember the day before we both absolutely saw that puppy in her on the x-ray, 1000% positive it was a puppy !
So it’s obvious what happened, she passed a puppy during the night last night and not knowing what it was because it was inside a placenta, she ate it.... I know that sounds gross and weird, but remember this puppy was dead for sure, probably inside the placenta not looking like a puppy, anyway I’m so stinking happy I could scream that this is over with !!!!!
I’ve been praying so much about this and God decided this time to say yes, that’s not always the case but he always does things right for the right reason even when I don’t see it.... ask me if I’ll sleep good tonight ???😬😬😬 this whole process has taught me a lot, i’m sure I’m going to get her spayed later... I cannot even fathom rolling the dice and going through this again.... so if there’s anybody else that has read this thread that does not have a lot of experience, please learn from my mistakes here, there’s a lot of people on here that post things that know much much more than I have, and I’ve learned a lot, still have 1000 things more to learn but this has taught me a lesson, prepared as I thought I was, I wasn’t prepared for anything like this... thank you very very very much to everybody for all your good advice, there were a few people anxious to be sarcastic and critical in the beginning but for the most part all of you have been very supportive and I appreciate more than you know the wisdom and advice I’ve gotten from all of you, God bless !

Now I’m anxious to see these little grizzly bear looking boogers grow up !
