Sunsilver ..... you are not off the mark in your thoughts. The USA Sieger Shows : years ago , decades ago I remember flying all over the US to attend to the shows and those shows werte hld to capacity at USA football fields . There were many many spectators and the event was held over a few days in order to exhibit all the entries and categories. Even the Regional GS Show in my part of the country had many entries and also took a few days. 30 years ago there needed to be some improvement in the SL GS presenting at the shows. Then with many imports and studs the GS quality became much much better .

In current day , IMOp , [ I have to be careful hw I address this that is why I write IMOp ] the quality of the SL GS in USA has declined considerably. I know ... many people seeing me write this will argue this , but whatever . But what In will tell you is that in 2018 the specimerns at the show were so bad IMOp , that not only did I write to my WUSV and SV Judge friends in Europe , I sent to them my copynof SCh USA magazine listing the pictures and results - they agrred with my perspective. I asked then specifically ' How can the Judges be giving these reatings VA and high V to those GSs - the presentation was that bad. Not only that , if you go to the shows now the events are pitiful compared to decacdes ago . Last year at my Regional show , the number of entires was so low thatbit was so so so sad. IMOp the decline is threefold : 1. no one has the interest to show for fun and to enjoy their dog , people show if and mostly if they have a dog that will place 1 , 2 , 3 . 2. the SCH USA organization is mostly a organizational club aimed holding trilas to compete / or to do sport. We do not have show events like Germany or other countries every weekend , and so forth. 3. The GS world has become to much an industry for making money . And as a result breeding practices have changd. Eveyone want the top dog in the short term and give no planning or intense thought to their breeding programs Even the Judges , let alone the breeders have ' no eye ' for the dog [ structure ] as the new generation lacks in these two aspects compared to former decades.

Germanyn has not been to kind to ther USA in decades past . They will always keep the best for themselves. not only that the world has opened up a market for them : Japan , China , India , Pakistan and on and on and on .. So the money for them , does not reside only in European countries or USA . Many of their litters with the best prospects or possible prospects are not for sale or ever advertised. What has come to the USA is not even close to the best. Therefore the USA Sieger Shows reflect this occurance. [ Sunsiver as I wrote youn are not off the mark ]

So .... the 2019 Sieger Show ... as I would say ..." what is to me " ... and " what is it to you" .... Because ... to know the rankings is not nearly enough for someone to know if they are very very very serious about the GS . Keep in mind the History and do your homework . BTW , just because a dog is VA , that does not mean the VA 1 dog is the best or top producer. Theoretically that seesm to follow but it does not because in the past decades there were a few VA 1 that showed promise in that respect but failed when the chips were down to be great producers [ even though the female plays a role , nevertheless they failed to produce as one would have thought ].

This is the hard truth and reality in the SHOW WORLD ... Let your conscious be your guide.

BTW , last comment ... many times I have written this - some people just don't understand the truth : As much as I love both the show lines and the working lines GSs , it is a given : once certyain working behavioral traits are lost ,there is no placing them back into the lineage. Let me add : not always does genetics work in reality as the genetics are written in a graph form . Genetics DD, DR , RD , RR [ Dominant , Recessive ] may seem predictors in graphs but genetics does not always in reality pan out as we would think . For example , this is ture :if you want a great male look for a great dam . This is cardinal , yet why would this be if the male gives 50% genetic material and the female 50% genetic material ? That would imply that everything should be 50/50 . Then why do top breeders look for the best females to beed to then ? QED , once some working traits are lost , you cannot simply breed selectively to put them back . point #2 - oif that were so , then would it not stand to reason that there would not be a wide decrepeancy between WL and SL , would there ? Don't get me wrong I love the SL and have one of the best blk /red - but I have to be honest and truthful or else I will forever lose all credibility . In short , Valk makes a point ....

Irina Thank you for posting the videos . But in regards to the comments made in this thread by the posters , I state ...

My comment about the video : The dog , Structure wise, is wonderful . The Performance is a blatant embarrassment . Exhibitions like this VA 2 GS is why many people think the SL are all washed up. I am not being critical but more so making an honest assessment. I have had SL at 7 months old that performed 10X better than that . But this is not just about the dog , but more so this is a manifestation that demonstrates that many people in the SL world have one thing that matters : And that is strictly the placement of the GS in the Show ,no more and no less ! Simply put , they just don't care about the working traits of the dog nor the training of the dog. For a exhibit of a VA GS at the Sieger Show , IMOp , that was an apparent disgrace.

Cent, I thought Kaspar did better than most. I agree he’s not the working dog, but I like he goes quickly on the attack from blind and commits early to the bite. Not often seen with his type. Then I see him use his thighs to push the helper back several steps on the standstill. For those who like a pushing bite, there you go. Long attack better than expected. Grip is where it should be, but I see he shows the telltale signs of clearing after the release from being cleaned up with the stick after the out. Normally don’t see that used anymore, especially with his type.

The padded sticked never touches the dogs in the BSZS and it used to be a hard reed stick, which tells you how the sport has been diluted and how the show lines are not tested at all.

by old shatterhand on 11 September 2019 - 11:09

apple. Do they use difference sticks on working lines ?

by apple on 11 September 2019 - 12:09

My point was how the protection phase/test has been diluted, partially to accommodate the show line dogs. Of course a padded stick is used on working lines, but it is actually used in that the dog is actually hit with the stick instead of the helper just waving it over the dog as with the show line dogs because if they were hit, many would go into flight.
