Are you getting an Alpha pup? I wish I was in a position to get another pup as I would love one out of her. Here's hoping she's still breeding in a few years so I can have one.

If you are really interested in a top line working dogs, Go to

http://www.schaeferhunden.eu/winsis_x/winsistrialevent.php?id=USA-16-Na

This lists the results of the USCA National Championship in 2016.

Then go through the list and do a google search for each handler and include the word "kennel". This will let you find some of the top Schutzhund dogs in the USA. Then if you think a few of them would work for you, ask the members of PDB what they think of the kennels.

For example  Laurie Coppola  http://www.rennbahnk9.com/

I know that Laurie shows dogs from her own kennel.

I am not reccommending anyone, just trying to give you a way to find some of the top working line kennels in the USA

Greyhoundgirl i assume you mean Alphachica? I dont know if she is still breeding but my pups mother waa born from an Alphachica litter to Quardes :) and Yhecht if that is the way to search i guess i am in good shape as the 1st place dog is a Staatsmacht dog and #9 was sired by a Staatsmacht dog. Those are the ones i recognize just glancing through the names there may be others.

What you should realize is that Stefan is very likely to place the weakest pup with someone who is a novice. He is going to place the strongest pups with his friends or someone he knows has competed at a high level. That does not necessarily mean you will get a crappy pup, but you will definitely not get near the top of the picks.

I love the grouches who act like every litter has total duds and any breeder is never going to give a novice a nice dog. Lots of well-planned litters have very predictable outcomes and pups may go from good to great, not great to awful. Jimefam, enjoy your pup.

Apple to be honest i am not that concerned about that for a few reason. #1 I recently met a local guy to me who got a dog from Staatsmacht being a novice and he asked stefan to pick one out for him and the dog is now a year old and an excellent dog. #2 Stefan allowed me to pick first on this litter because if you read my thread from the beginning i hit him up about a pup a good while ago and so was the first to put up for this litter. And #3 there was only one male born and i got him lol so its out of both our hands lmao i am going to get what i get.

And watching the michael ellis raising a working puppy dvd he was talking about how he rather get the "worst" dog from an excellent litter then the "excellent" looking 8 week old dog from a so so litter. I think i did my job which was to get the most dog i could get now what the dog becomes is entirely on me i certainly wont reach for the excuse that stefan gave me a bad pup if i cant get what i want out of him.

Well-planned litters with excellent genetics are fairly consistent in genotype/phenotype so even the 'last pick' from Stefan will be far better than most.

Have a great learning adventure with your new pup!

Your pup is not really from Stefan's breeding program per se, but rather, one of his dogs is the sire. That is why you got the pick you did. If both dogs being bred were his, things would have been different. Typically, he would get a stud fee or pick of the litter. It likely was really up to the owner of the bitch to place the pups, but he/she probably just let him do it.
