It is possible to muck about with drop ears to make them stand, look at the show Dobermanns with ears like rabbits.

This pic specifically. Look closely at the mouth. It was drawn with some type of brush/pencil tool. Look at the stretched apprearance of the muzzle and the duplication texture spots around the ears.

Honestly if youi're gonna photoshop something, learn to do it convincingly. It's not too hard. Thinking

Does anyone still have a link to those videos?

Only you, HM, can tell us why you would base your conclusion on your lopsided statement of opinion. Maybe you are bored?

I tried to find "ww.guofuqi.com" - doesn´t seem to exist any more,
then I tried to find the phone mumber - same result.
Whoever "created" those dogs ( by painting and/or breeding ) seems to be out of business by now.

I really hope that´s it.

If you look up the dog Zombi Feetback, and look at some of his pics, those could very very very easily be contorted into these Chinese dogs. If my photo program worked on Windows 10, I'd do it just to show you.

I'm not exactly sure where the discussion is leading, but I agree with this thread's opening statement in that; genetic diversity remains broad within the breed, and very much of it lies dormant from expression.

A breeder's selection determines the most influential pressures placed on genetic expression. The point of this, is to reduce the amount of variability in the characteristics of the offspring produced. The whole point of breeding is; To increase the frequency of desired characteristics, and to reduce the frequency of undesired characteristics.

So as a breeder, "genetic diversity" is not exactly your friend. That is an opinion I have that has unfortunately not been shared by many, most likely due to influences in our education system and values deemed as socially acceptable in our society. "Diversity is a GOOD thing", is a blanket belief in our society, without taking the actual context into consideration.

There was an article somewhere in this forum that I shared years back, relating to 26 or so different genes involved in the expression of skull size. I find it very believable, especially of the Chinese, that these mastiff characteristics were brought to surface without the aid of photoshop or outcrossing to another breed.

So do I Daryl but not ruling the outcross or some degree of Photoshop out, entirely, either. Bee, I don't know what you think I "concluded" ?

by beetree on 05 February 2017 - 22:02

TBH, I really haven't given it much thought as to what you might have been concluding with your thoughts, HM.

Daryl, why, "especially" would the Chinese want to make these offshoot aberrations from valuable, expensive SV winners?

They would cost more to feed, more to keep clean, require more kennel space, more of everything and for what? They haven't improved anything as to the function of a GSD, so what is their purpose?
