I use Blue Wilderness. Usually get Chicken and Salmon and mix them about 1/2 and 1/2. Then add 1 large ice cream scoop of raw ground meat, or chicken in the morning meal, but just the grain free kibble in the evening.
My holistic vet got me started on the raw addition to the dogs meals about 10 years ago when I was having some problems with a dog. She feels that dogs need that raw protein added to their diet since they are carnivores. It cleared up my dogs problems in 3 days. What my regular vet had tried had not worked for 6 months, that's when I found a holistic vet.
I am too lazy to go completely raw diet, so this works well for me.

I have used several dog foods some with better results than others. The ones that have really worked for me are...

AvoDerm - although a couple of my dogs lost weight on this food as it is lower on the calleries

Kirkland - From Costco. I have used both the Kirkland signature kibble. Either the lamb and rice or the chicken and rice. But mostly I use the Natures Domain which is grain free. I have had very good results with this food.

Taste of the Wild - My mom feeds her dog the Pacific Stream formula.. I have used all the formulas before with good results.

I really do like that Acana food from Champion pets. I have been feeding this to Xena for a little while now with good results. I am using a mixture of the fish and lamb formulas.

I would never feed a dog food with corn, wheat or soy in it. Dogs do not need or do well on these grains. They do not digest them. I do prefer to use a grain free dog food as I feel that dogs do not need grains in their diets on a regular basis. I do sometimes give a dog treat that has brown rice or a small amount of barley. But this is once in a great while. I do also give my dog raw as one of her meals. So I do kibble one time and raw the other.

We feed Farmina, and absolutely love it. We have been feeding all of our dogs this food for the past year and have been very pleased. Great coats, perfect stools, excellent body condition and the dogs go nuts for the food.

@ jb4yoda: am going to look into Farmina again, thx for sharing. Nan

I Feed TOTW, with a little raw protein mixed in. I have 3 German Shepherds coats/skin/weight/digestive health/teeth are great on all 3.
Doing some research on Urban Wolf , has anyone heard of this or have tried it?

I imagine each dog is different. My male cannot handle Origen. He was raised on Fromm. Did well on about a year on Farmina but a few bags seemed rancid, caused loose stools, and I was completely unimpressed by customer service. Around that time new production plants were being built in, I think, South America. So here we go VICTOR.Made in Texas in a modern facility. I have had absolutely GREAT results in the victor HiPro (a 30/20 formula, not really high pro) and, for the first time in his life. Nice firm stools. So to each his own. Once we had a solid year on the victor I did blood panels and they were perfect.
