No but you like stirring to try to START rumours ...

by Mackenzie on 07 September 2016 - 16:09

Hundemutter - Can you read and understand English or not. Please read my last post. You are the stirrer on this forum who just likes to have the last word.

Contraversy with the judging in the Schutzdienst. Finn was disqualified after the bite work and then he passed after BOSEL requested the video be reassessed. There is no way Finn should be given "lasst ab" when he did come off on the second part of the test he took a swipe at the helpers leg.  A Lot of people are  upset with this and, also, the measuring was not quite correct on certain well known dogs.

Ballack, Yuri, Marlo, Wilas sold to China. All oversized.

From October matings there will be a breed value for size.

For Hundemutter's benefit these are not rumours

No rumours, Mack is spot on.
It´s difficult to tell people they have to change their business practices within seconds.

Our "top" breeders are not used to listen to a President ( or anybody else ) for years now - "business as usual" -
the best ideas are useless in case you can´t force people to follow them ( I won´t say "convince", because that´s almost impossible - too much money involved - 60000 German SV members, less than 100 knowingly destroying the breed, and for all the people outside of Germany these few ( and their products / kennels / dogs ) are the "heroes".

Sometimes ( ? ) I really think people outside of Germany should stop to pay hundreds of thousands of Euros for our dogs - no money = less cheating... I wouldn´t mind.

Ballack was sold for an eye watering amount of money, however, way back in his bloodline on the sire side is a whole collection of epileptic carriers. Fact. The evidence can be found on this database. Fact.

Thank you, Susie! If I had wrote the exact same thing, there would be some questioning my motives or assessment......the same apologist😕, but the only way for change to take place is for light to come on a subject.

I fully agree with Susie’s comments. Foreign buyers are prepared to pay ridiculous prices for the dogs just because they can. Not everything that they do is in the best interest of the breed and the practise of breeding animals that are fit for purpose.

One thing that bothers me is that quite often semen is taken from the males and frozen for use later in Artificial Insemination. The semen is then sold at ridiculous prices so that egotistical people can say their dog is sired by a Sieger or VA male even though at the time of insemination the male may have been dead for some years. These buyers will not know the family history behind the dogs and the problems that we see today. What goes around comes around and in the future years we may have to fight today’s health and other issues again.

Today’s issues will not be solved by "The Judges Commitment Declaration for Conformation” which has already been thrown out of the window as is evidenced by the Sieger results which is the very first show that it was designed for.

I would have thought that the 60,000 SV members could collectively work together towards getting the money men out. This situation must be sorted out by the SV and quickly to restore confidence in the Club and more importantly save the breed from further damage. It has to be sorted out in Germany because that is the main source of the dogs.

If you do not have firsthand knowledge, you should have absolute confidence in someone's word before you repeat what they say or it is a rumour. I can look at video and pictures and tell if a dog is too big, but I could be wrong. I would take Susie's word because she sees these dogs firsthand, and I trust her character. I can understand motives that I do not agree with, but it is really shortsighted to cheat the system and use the cheats in your own breeding program. Now there is a problem that almost everyone has to deal with. The breed value system is a step in the right direction, I hope that it will be followed going forward. I would love to go to Germany and witness this firsthand, for now I will watch how this is administered in the States.

I don't think any of us thought the Judges Commitment Declaration was going to solve issues overnight or was going to be obeyed. Was Messler serious when he put it out or was it for PR? If he was serious, the ball's in his court.

by Mackenzie on 09 September 2016 - 22:09

Markobytes - I agree with you that the introduction of a breed value system by their height is a step in the right direction.

Like any other system this new step has to be introduced, implemented and policed to make it work. To say it is easy but to implement it and police it with suitable punishments is something else. The subject of this thread has already gone by the board. The results reflect this.

I was a member of the SV for many years and, like Susie, I have seen many of the dogs first hand.
