I mentioned that MINE are because the OP asked "what is the best and least damaging heartworm preventative for dogs?", and my collective dogs have had no adverse reactions with Interceptor, and now Sentinel, for a significantly lengthy period of time, and they all received the product every month without any interruption--so there was ample opportunity for an adverse response to be observed in these dogs. Consequently, I've found Interceptor to be a relatively safe AND effective preventative that does not appear to have had any negative effect on the health of my dogs across the years.
booboo, you can posture all you wish, but the fact is the poison IS in the dose; used correctly, a substance can be a medication that prevents or cures, even when its misuse can prove deadly.

Hexe .. the poison is NOT the dose for all people, animals or pests .. it is an idiotic idea from a bygone era and an example of corporate industry propaganda. As a field biologist I know for a fact and it is well documented that within any population of humans, dogs, insects or plants there are huge differences in both tolerance and susceptibility to drugs, herbicides, insecticides, and vaccines. The industry whores find it useful to claim there is a level of exposure below which damage or death does not occur due to toxic substances and they are safe for all. That the dose is the poison is a lie. The tobacco industry used all of the propaganda lies possible including lung cancer is caused by genetics and that a little smoking was OK but now we know that for some people ( including children ) even passive second hand smoke is a health threat. Filtered cigarettes were yet another cigarette company lie to deceive the public that toxins could be filtered out. The dose that makes the poison for some is very low indeed while for a few they can smoke three cigarettes at once and never die of lung cancer before they die of heart failure, stroke or kidney disease. Vaccine trials and sales in Africa were stopped because a childhood MMR vaccine used there was killing female infants at a higher rate than males receiving the same vaccine. Africa has long been a testing ground for new vaccines because the costs of death and disease caused by vaccines used there is cheap and easy to hide from the rest of the world. Is it any wonder that Africans do not trust drug companies or their new wonder drugs or vaccines??? The fact is that the testing systems for new drugs and pesticides in pets is rigged in favor of the corporations getting fast approval and then finding out the truth once the products are on the market and killing or damaging pets. Then the reporting and fact finding system is rigged to suppress the reporting of deaths and damages to pets so that the corporate makers can cover up the facts and profit as long as possible. Just as in the case of cops who beat or kill innocent citizens the popularity of phone cams and social media has pulled back the veil of secrecy the cops and corporations once used to hide their crimes. The cops, the corporations, politicians, and the military liked it a lot better when the public knowledge was limited to government propaganda, corporate controlled news and media giants, and military propaganda. In today's world a citizen can be shot in the back by a cop as in SC and by 24 hours later 30 million people have seen the crime by the cop. Likewise Facebook and YouTube sites and videos about dogs poisoned, beaten or killed are springing up and the public can see the real situation rather than the "story" the cops, pesticide makers, and veterinarians are telling to protect themselves. Citizens can make their own decisions for themselves and their pets but they should be based on facts and not propaganda.

In Africa the truth is hidden in plain sight .. one size fits all vaccination programs may save the lives of many children in the long term ( who live through them ) but those children unlucky enough to be malnourished, diseased or have different genetic sensitivity from the "herd" are damaged or killed by these vaccines after they are given to them like a herd of cattle. Just as in the USA the "officials" claim that vomiting, fever, brain damage, and death shortly following vaccine use is just coincidental. They leave out the words they use behind closed doors such as cost effective, profitable, and acceptable risks. The lie of the century past and present.
