Susie and Gigante, I am not disagreeing with you. As a matter of fact professional dedicated breeders through the years create a blood strain of their own within the breed itself. To make it simple I will take 3 strains example

A. Arlett strain:
Traits
1. Excellent Gait,
2. Excellent conformation,
3. Fair working capabilities
4. Fair herding

B. Carthago strain:
1. Fair gait,
2. Good conformation,
3. Excellent working capabilities
4. Fair herding

C. Kirschental
1. Very good gait.
2. Very good conformation
3. Good working capabilities
4. Excellent herding

Now each of above breeders has his own strain of GSD which they developed over the years. You can say each has a bloodline (sort of).

Now if Arlett decides that his present stud that is representative of his strain needs improvement in herding instinct he would use Kirschental female or male to strengthen this trait but he would retain/keep the main traits of his own strain without diluting his bloodline and his offspring will remain representatives of his strain (bloodline).

Same applies if Carthago needs to improve conformation, he can go to Arlett. Same applies if Kirschental wants to improve gait or working capabilities.

They get back a lost trait by out crossing but they do keep/retain their own strain (bloodline). Professional breeders do this all the time, maybe they do not explain it to us but they do it.
Do you get me?

Ibrahim, none of these breeders refer to dogs long gone ( before they were even born ), but all of them believe in current blood. They believe in their own knowledge and experience, not in decisions made by thousands of breeders they had no influence in, and they don´t trust in dogs they never met.
Never heard about "Christental" ? Kirschental? That makes sense.. :)

Agreed Susie, I talk about the idea not specific dogs

Ibrahim

I get it I didn't think you are disagreeing I think you outlined the idea well Susie just cant grasp it. This is an issue with anyone in the mix alot crowd all lines should be watered down with every other line. If thats perfectly acceptable to someone, then this type of breeding is ludicious. Its all about the dog in front of them. They will never get it.

calling people delusional and ludicrous instead of answering the question is poor form and shows a lack of knowledge, understanding of the topic and is just plain bad manners.

the question asked is re-posted here, my bold;

"Hans,

For my knowledge, assuming I have a 1st line male mated with 2nd line female and the offspring mated with offspring of 3rd line male with 4th line female:

(1st line male + 2nd line female) male + (3rd line male + 4th line female) female

What line will the puppies be?

Cheers,
SE"

Surely you're not so naive that you believe that was an honest question?

by vk4gsd on 18 April 2016 - 01:04

I guess I am that naïve.

by joanro on 18 April 2016 - 02:04

Excellent posts, Susie. It's clear you do 'get it' ;)

Gigante

by Gigante on 18 April 2016 - 03:04

Ok then vk4gsd, its not an honest question. But he did answer it. Ps... ludicrous was from me and delusional was from susie. Since you missed that as well... :)

by vk4gsd on 18 April 2016 - 03:04

Confused here.
