Do you really believe there are only savages ( is this the correct word ) in Nigeria?
There are schools, universities, hospitals...
Elkoor sold this dog to a FRIEND, like Smiley already mentioned.
Keep us updated, Elkoor!

Personally I would sell a dog to a friend living in Nigeria as long as they could pick up the dog. Shipping it there would be too much of a nightmare for me.

Blitzen, that was the original plan...the pup was supposed to travel back from the US WITH his new owner, but the airline screwed up and wouldn't allow the new owner to bring the pup on board.

joanro, is it worse to be slaughtered, cooked and eaten, than it is to be starved, beaten, and left to die? Because the latter happens on this side of the ocean a hell of a lot more often than people who go to the expense and trouble to actually import a good dog eat them instead of loving them, I'll bet.

Sadly, joanro, you're probably right on that first part, and on the second part too...at least not on the official, health-department approved menus. Can't say what's on the menus for the 'insiders'...

Lol why an earth would the Nigerian military incompetent as it obviously is want to import dogs from the UK? There much better options available throughout most of Europe.
by Hundmutter on 09 April 2015 - 09:04
Maybe there weren't as many choices then, Haz. That campaign took
place before the Berlin Wall came down. [Not that I agree our dogs are
inferior !]
I know Nigeria is a modernising country, I know there is more technology
etc available to the people than ever before - but as both Lineage's election
news tape and Joan's link to restaurants in Nigeria's major cities currently serving
dog meat showed, the society is still riddled with superstition and nonsense.
Added to which I don't actually blame the Nigerians for detesting dogs, especially
GSDs - there is not really a 'pet' culture in Nigeria, most dogs are kept, where they
are kept at all, as 'guard dogs', and mostly in abysmal conditions. Dogs the military & LE
have had access to have too often been used violently against the common people.
If I was surrounded by dogs like that, I too might be scared and not want to engage with
them. The OP's friend will probably have quite a miserable time trying to do normal things
like walk the dog; not to mention dealing with the heat. I still think "Poor dog!".
