I truly believe most decent dogs can do PP as long as the basics exist genetically, its in the training.

I agree Haz.   I think back to when I started my dog in bite-work, and we had to teach my dog to bite the sleeve ONLY,  for his IPO training.   I feel that once we have him titled in IPO, that he will easily transition to another discipline,  based on his willingness to take on the man without any equipment.    That has always been his nature, and what he is genetically.

it has nothing to do with training and all with genetics, if its not there, it simply is not there, and with most of todays dogs, it is simply not there,

every behaviour that is trained behaviour sets you up for failure, as soon as the dog dont recognize a situation as trained,it will not be triggered and leave you hanging

very simple, every dog that bites out of preydrive, needs to recognize prey in order to bite, so no recognizable prey= no bite

many top sport people today take great pride in telling everyone that dogs dont bite for real, its only a game to them, and they are right, it is what it is

I TRAIN SCHUTZHUND SOMETIMES WHEN MY HELPER DROP OR SLIP THE SLEVE MY DOG GO FOR REAL BITE I GOT TO BE ALERT 110% ALL THE TIME WE DO PROTECTION AND YES I AGREE DEPEND ON THE DOG THE WAY YOU RISE AND TRAIN YOUR DOG

Duke, right again. I sing the same song. You can cross train an IPO dog to be real.....but the genetics have to be there. It's not a matter of merely training.
